The Late Night (http://www.myspace.com/thelatenight)'s trailer was recently stolen from an apartment complex in Maryland. The besides the trailer itself, the band lost around $13,000 worth of merch and equipment that it contained. The band is not asking for donations, but just wanted the information to be released as a warning to bands of all sizes in every city to be extremely cautious.

Holy shit. This is getting out of hand with people stealing shit. I haven't head of anything quite this big yet...and yeah. Whoever the dipshits are that are stealing from bands in this manner are just entirely despicable.

I hate how people justify stealing hardworking peoples stuff.

Fuck. Why can't people steal from huge egotistical bands worth millions of dollars? Why is it always from the little guys? These dudes just want to tour the country doing what they love and have a good time doing it. I'm sick of people stealing from bands. I wish the Late Night the best - they are a damn good band. I wanna help these guys out.

i can't wait until we finally see a post about a band catching the thieves in the act.
this is always unfortunate. bands are poor enough as it is. especially on tour. sad.

There is this really cool new thing out there now called INSURANCE. It costs about $135 a year and if you're gear gets stolen...$40,000 for new gear!

same exact shit happened to my band out here in Los Angeles back in October. We got our trailer stolen with all of our equipment and merch in it. Its sad that this kind of shit happens to bands, let alone smaller touring bands.
We never recovered our equipment, and just barely got ourselves back to where we once were. I pray for you guys to find your gear soon.
If it makes you feel any better, our van blew up on the freeway a month prior to our trailer being stolen..... </3

Here is the thing ... they have insurance ... however ... insurance can be a bitch ... and no its not 40 grand for new gear ... it covers cost usually and then some and sometimes it wont even cover cost
so yea

have you ever actually tried to file a claim with an insurance company? it's not really the most efficient process...doesn't usually cover cost entirely...and a band can't wait eternity for insurance to finally get them some money for new equipment, they can't just sit around twiddling their thumbs, they gotta keep playing shows etc...so while it does help eventually insurance is not an answer to everything.

Maybe the feds should do a sting operation using a set up much like a touring band would have. (van & Trailer)... Oh wait, They don't care about musicians.
