Ap Ftp

This is just an idea but I was wondering if anyone was interested in trying to get an Absolutepunk.net FTP going? I would host but I am behind some a router with some firewalls so I couldnt host but I would definitely be able to contribute a lot of stuff. This is just an idea and I am just curious as to what everyone else thinks?

I think that's a good idea...but it was probably brought up before but didn't go through...some one tell whoever can give the go for this...it's a kick ass idea.

I dont have to deal with firewall or router issues so I can do alot. We can even make a AP channel on EFNET on IRC to get alot of stuff out and that would help spread the word of AP. Only bad thing is we would have to talk to tate about it and that is almost impossible I could run the IRC channel

i use irc but i dont know that much about hosting. if i am behind a router/firewall does that count me out for being a server? i actually think mirc would be better than a FTP. cus an ftp wold just get so crowded and stuff. im gonna look into hosting on mirc and try and find some stuff on. cus if we could get this together, i think it would be awsome and a great way to get some music out.

Wow, I love the sound of this idea...although I'm more familiar with FTP then IRC, if it came down to it I'd explore more with IRC for this.

irc confuses the hell out of me, and a lot of other people. ftp's are a lot easier, i figure if i can handle it then anyone can.

also, to the people who arent familar with mirc, you are gonna download it and are gonna be like, what in the fuck. cus its very weird at first. but once you get the hang of it, is super easy. so if we get this thing going, i think we should make a tutorial and get it on the site.

this is how it works thus far, people IM me and ask me to send them shit i get off of IRC.

i totally agree with both the ftp and mirc. mirc is where i get all my advances and its pretty easy when you get the hang of it. we could use that for the main stuff, but the demos and lesser known stuff that people post about here i have never seen on mirc. if we also had an ftp for the demos and less popular things then it wouldnt be flooded because the main stuff we could access through mirc with multiple servers. id like to hear a lot of the newer stuff that doesnt make it to mirc and a few songs from mp3.com isnt enough. also i think tate uses mirc cause im sure he gets advances but a lot of times when he says he's heard an album for the first time i can find it on mirc that night. so either he puts it on there or he gets it from there. tate should be all for this as long as it spreads the music and doesnt slow down the site anymore. i know im new here but im not new to punk music, ive collected about 20 gigs worth in the last few years so id deffinately contribute. and i have no problem trying to help people learn how to use mirc or an ftp program. lets get this started guys.

also if this doesnt come together and people are looking for stuff or also have a lot of stuff and are generous enough to share then at least we can get an unofficial thing going. theres a few things out there that i still cant find and im sure a lot of you guys are in the same boat. let me know what you need.

and we love you for that. and i agree with what cole said. you have to type funny things with exclamation points and cd and dir and other stuff and copy paste and ... yeah ... ?
