Not one of the bigger "classic rock" bands but they were always one of my favorites for that type of music.

'Operation: Mindcrime' and 'Empire' are pretty good albums.

Any other fans?

Right here! This thread is old, but whatever.

I was about to make an official thread for them to discuss the fact that Sign of the Times is one of the best greatest-hits albums I've ever heard.

Oh wow, I didn't even get an additional post lol.

I can still enjoy them from time to time, "Della Brown" is my favorite song by them.

Which album is it off of? I rarely ever listen to classic-ish rock.. but this is what I listen to when I do haha.

That song is from 'Empire'. It's got a different vibe from the rest of the songs.

I wouldn't call them classic rock... more like progressive metal. But yeah, I've been listening to them for my entire life, pretty much.

I see. I'll have to download that. I just have the compilation + operation mindcrime I.

I agree actually but it's definitely more classically oriented prog. And yeah, my dad introduced me to them.

Empire is probably the band's biggest album... I'm surprised that if you're a fan, you don't already have it o.O

Personally, I think "Promised Land" was their best, though.

Operation: Mindcrime is soooooo good. That's about the only album I listen to by them though.

Yeah they are pretty awesome.

'Operation Mindcrime' is really great album.

Pretty good too. The live recording 'Operation Livecrime' was decent as well.
OM is perhaps one of the best concept albums ever and yes it does also give Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' a run for its money.
Great band.

Agreed.

Too bad the second one was horrible.

They should have left it alone.
Perhaps one of the lesser awesome things that was released in '07, metal-wise.

Their ex-guitarist Chris Degarmo was the one who did a lot of the writing on the first one, so I knew the 2nd one would be shit since they didn't have him. I just really hoped it would've been good though.

Random fact: My mom is obsessed with Chris Degarmo

Great band. Operation Mindcrime is one of the best metal records to come out of the 80's.

Queensryche were the first decent band Type O Negative toured with.
That was in 1993/94 when TON became famous. Some crazy shit went down on that tour.
I know someone who went to see one of the concerts. Both bands ended the show sharing the same em stage.

Queensryche are also one of the best metal bands live too.

just so everyone has this clear.

their new disk is one of the worst albums i've ever heard. I think they tried their hardest on OM:II and it still sucked. so this CD they just said, "ah, fuck it" and recorded a bunch of boring, woo america! songs.

don't believe me?

Love the original EP. The Warning had some great songs, Rage for Order was great too! Mindcrime and Empire are definitely masterpieces. Not really a fan of much that came out after Empire. I did enjoy Mindcrime II and a few tracks off American Soldier, but they've definitely lost a lot with DeGarmo's absence. I hope he comes back (even though he's been gone for like 15 years ahaha)

Umm no.

I enjoy Mindcrime A LOT more than The Wall. I'm a huge Floyd fan, but The Wall doesn't do it for me. Hate to say it, but it kind of sucks. Dark Side, WYWH and Animals definitely destroy though.

they've never gotten over the loss of Chris DeGarmo.

Promised Land remains their masterpiece.

Overall, 'TDSOTM' and 'WYWH' are better, but 'The Wall' by no means sucks. From the simple, yet effective instrumentation that stretches out past it's prime, to all the different aspects of the concept itself, with all the variety, to the level of production, etc. etc. it's an incredible piece.

Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it sucks.

I think The Wall sucks. My opinion. Not yours. Chill out.
