Alright this is a question for all you fellow guitar players who play ska style guitar. I understand the whole upstroke concept, but what are the best settings to get a good sound on my amp. Like what should I set my gain, treble, mid, and bass at? I would appreciate if someone answered this without insulting me.....

i dont fiddle with the treb, mid, or bass. i leave that alone, and turn the gain off, then just switch to a single coil pickup on my guitar. the humbucker doestn sound as good.

I barely use any distortion on ska riffs. Listen to Goldfinger's "Superman" or Guttermouth's "My Girlfriend" and you'll find out that ska riffs are mostly played clean. If you insist playing with some gain, only turn up to like 2-2.5 or if you have a distortion knob on your clean channel, turn up to 5 or 6 to have good results. I'd recommend you to keep the treb knob on maximum, same goes for mid or at least turn to 5-7.5. Turning the mid knob down will result in having a more bassy sound and as you might know all ska riffs have a pretty bright and high tone. I'm not quite sure about the bass, but I have my bass up at 5-7.5 all the time, no matter what style. This all advice I can give

I have best sound when playing on the bridge pickup or humbucker, because the tone comes out very clear and bright and I think this is a necessity for ska tunes

i think ska sounds best clean...i have a les paul and i think it sounds best with just the bridge pickup, or even both the bridge and neck pick-ups on. As far as equalization goes, about 7 for treble, 4 or 5 for bass, and a low mid setting ( 2-3)
