The movie while accurate did have alot inaccuracies. Nothing major though. Mainly alot of stuff about who was where etc. My dad is a Ranger and when they came to Ft. Benning they spent there 2 weeks here with 4rtb for there training. If any of you have the extended version of the dvd you can see my mom lol. she is the one cutting orlando blooms hair in the extras. Oh and Tom Sizemore is a pussy. he dropped out of the 2 week training after the 1st day. guess he had to get his drug fix. I also met the guys dad that died on the table from the leg wound. He came a few years ago for a ceremony. I love this movie.

i like the movie a lot. it frustrated me to no end to hear people talk smack about it and call it us propaganda because of how much ass the americans kicked in the battle yet to find out it is relatively close to fact it makes me happy.

i wonder how close we were soldiers is to reality.

Not sure... but black hawk down is close. The movie doesn't even fully describe how much those guys whooped ass over there. They didn't stress the ammo situation enough. They were pratically out of ammo. they were scraping rounds of the ground. Also a ton of the people were wounded which they didn't show nearly as well as they could of. Also the run at the end is very true. They called it the mogadishu mile cause they ran there last mile to safety because they were forgot. Does anyone remember the footage from back in the day when it happended of them dragging the soldiers throught the street and eveything?

Yeah that movie is surprisingly accurate and the footage of the natives dragging the soldiers through the streets was what eventually caused the US to completely pull out. Notice, that they waited for the Marines to pull out and the Army to replace them before making a move. It just shows the world has more respect for the Marines then the worthless Army. Even as the service supposed to capable of handling occupying a country is incapable of it. Alot of people use Mogadishu as a prime example of the Army's incapability to control Iraq. Go figure, Americans never learn...

I would see mogadishu as a prime example of when they dont let the army do what they are traied to do and let popular opionion control everything. ROE's of f'ing stupid. That is why they got pinned down. They could have brought in an ac-130 gunship to clear away the somalies for there positions but that would look bad in the news and on the admin. so therefore they left them grounded. That is why we cant keep control in Iraq. They are worried about public opinion. If this admin. had a wwII mentality i gurantee we would be doing 10x better in Iraq.
