I found out earlier today that a good friend of mine, a guy I've played high school soccer with for three years and worked with for two, died last night on his cycle. He was a year ahead of me, and a recent graduate of our school.

Flashback about a week ago, another kid from our school got in an accident with his bike, shattering his leg and his hopes of walking on graduation day. I came home that night after hearing about it and thinking about how much worse could come about any of my friends that also ride said bikes.

Now this.. he graduated last Wednesday.. and now he's gone. It just doesn't make any sense.. I feel terrible for his family and can't stop thinking about the last conversation I had with him on Thursday night.

I'm not trying to make myself the victim.. I just needed to say something. Our soccer team's mini-camp starts Monday and I'm not sure what I'm going to do as a member of the senior leadership. If any of you guys ride these "ninja" speed-bikes, just be smart about it. I'd hate to hear about another broken family losing a young person.

He was such a great athlete and an even better person..

RIP Doug.. You're going to be missed sorely..

Just hang in there dude. I know it seems unreal how someone close to you can just "dissappear" but soon you will come to terms with it. Just do your thing to mourn and time will heal the pain that this has caused you.

The viewing was tonight.. one of the roughest things I've had to endure so far.. I think it all finally hit me tonight. Nothing left to do but keep on going in his memory.
