Fireworks - We Are Everywhere EP
Record Label: Run For Cover
Release Date: December 17, 2006

Who?

Fireworks is an outfit out of Detroit, Michigan featuring former members of Let It Die and Stranger On A Train. They play a fun, yet unoriginal brand of pop punk that won't take you long to get into.

How Is It?

The We Are Everywhere EP is just a taste of what we can expect from the quintet. The EP starts off with the anthemic "Mountain Movers To Lazy Losers" which makes you believe that this band is going to be around for a while. Then you will shift foward with "Midnight Society" where you're preached "We Are All We'll Ever Need". "Michigan Boys Need To Get A Clue" is another instant classic complete with gang vocals. This band has the sound, the background, and the balls to be the next big thing.

Recommended If You Like: Hit The Lights, Set Your Goals, Pop Punk with Hardcore Influences, and your occasional handclaps and gang vocals.

These guys sound a lot like Hit the Lights. "The Midnight Society" might as well been on This Is A Stick Up... Regardless, I still like these guys. Catchy pop-punk.

really good stuff, just can't get over how much vocals sound EXACTLY like Jordan from NFG back in the day

Some of these "hardcore"-derived pop-punk bands just sound so far over the line that I can't even hear anything remotely resembling traits of melodic hardcore.

This is one of those bands.

Pass, big time.

Yeah, I agree. I see very little hardcore influence anymore in this kind of stuff, unless some sort of resemblence to gang vocals makes you hardcore influenced pop-punk, which has something that's been in regular pop-punk forever. This is so far to the melodic side that it's a bit much.

Being from Michigan, if you ever went to a Fireworks show around here, you'd see what i mean by "influenced"

Whatever you do, don't see them live. I saw them at Harmony grange in DE and wow was it bad, they must of autotuned the crap out of his voice cause it was just horrible. Don't get me wrong I was really let down, I love their EP, but man there horrible live. They need to practice before they hop on tour with a band like Set Your Goals.

I like the EP a lot. I think they sound better than Hit the Lights..they're not nearly as cheesy.

To each his own, i've seen them countless times, and they've been great every time. Twice was with Set Your Goals.

He was sick the last few dates of their recent tour.

Oh, to the people saying they don't see the hardcore influence, just see them live. You can definitely see it there.

ok if you want to see the most obvious hardcore influences in this band then read the fucking lyrics because theyre not the typical shit about some girl that no one else cares about
and the gang vocals-definately started in hardcore
im all for being able to express your opinion but at least make sure that what you say has some backing to it

I think they were under rated in this review. I'd say trust the members' rating more. The musicianship on this piece is completely creative and incredible, we who are musicians can recognize that, those who aren't might not make those distinctions. The drummer practically doesnt repeat the same fills except maybe during the choruses- even then he may surprise you and not play the same thing again, same with the guitarists. Now I'm not saying that just b/c you dont repeat notes and chords in the same fashion that it's avant garde and worship worthy, but they're definitely not your run-of-the-mill applications.

Oh and, NFG has a different style- Jordan's voice defintiely sets their band apart from this one(besides the fact that theyre popular, when you hear Jordan of NFG for example, you know its NFG- even if say, w/out the band to back it up). Why must every tom dick and harry out there compare recent pop punk bands to NFG? Seriously!
