AICN EXCLUSIVE! Guess Who’s Shooting His IRON MAN Role Today!!
Okay. This is a pretty big tidbit, and as far as I can tell, this is an exclusive. I haven’t seen any mention of this anywhere online, but it’s exciting news, and I have to share it with you guys.
Right now, if I had to wager on whether or not IRON MAN was going to be one of next summer’s big films, I’d say it will be. It seems like Jon Favreau has done everything right so far, and I’m hearing really exciting things about the action sequences and the casting, and I’ve been sold on Robert Downey Jr. since the moment he was announced.
Today, though, he’s shooting scenes featuring an actor who is a set-up for a larger Marvel continuity, and it’s exciting because I’m hoping this character can start showing up in other films, and we’ll start seeing Marvel Studios creating a larger world, one that exists outside the frames of the individual movies. This is a major step towards making that AVENGERS movie we’ve been hearing about. So who’s the actor? Who’s the character?
Sam Jackson. Nick Fury.
Count on it.

MArk Millar called in way back in The ULTIMATES. It's nice to let a comic book character to pick the actor to protray him

I'm sorry, but you sir are retarded. This movie is directed by Jon Favreau, who is a legitimately talented director, stars extremely talented actors like Robert Downey Jr. and Terrence Howard, and does not have a ridiculously cheesy plot, plus a reportedly high quality script. SOAP 2? Come on, don't be ridiculous. It has never looked like it nor will it ever. This will be Marvel's best, their one to match up to Batman Begins and the Dark Knight (but fall short of course).
As already mentioned, anyone who read The Ultimates already knew this. Fury picked Jackson himself, you can't argue with that.
You know, I think I wouldve been happy with whoever they cast as long as they didn't ask David Hasselhoff to reprise the role.

well, in the Ultimate Comics line, Nick Fury is black and looks like Sam Jackson so this didn't come out of no where. The original character had always been a ladies man and a"player" so I guess they felt a Nick Fury that had the vibe of Samuel L. Jackson would be cooler than the standard white hero. Since the character looked like Jackson to begin with (purposely), it was only natrual they would try to cast him.
As far as Kinpin, you're right, there was never a black Kinpin. But honestly, I don't feel there was another white actor that was that large enough and had the gravitas to play the role. Michael Clark Duncan pulled it off. Plus the Kinpin is not defined by his "whiteness."

Ah yes, and I am excited about this as well. Forgot to mention that. I bet Millar is stoked about this.

For me its a toss up, they are both so different.
The WHite one has been MIA for so long now that I'll go ahead and Say that the Black one wins, but he is a collosal ass to spiderman and the x-men

YOu know little of the original Nick fury if those are the words you are going to use to describe him. The Original Nick fury was a WW2 commando that fought along side Cap, I have nop idea how he has stayed alive. But He was a James Bond type spy for along time but I wouldn't call him a ladies man and deffenatly not a player
DUncan played the King Pin Perfectly, I did care that he was black

Yeah, Bendis, Millar and Hitch deffinatly had someone in mind when they were creating this character

Also, apparently, according to this issue,
Brad Pitt - Captain America
Tony Stark - Johnny Depp
Hank Pym - Matthew McConnaughey
Jan - Lucy Lui
Bruce Banner - Steve Buscemi

Sam Jackson was awesome in 1408.
They need to make a Civil War movie. That would be sick.

Strangely enough Civil War would be my 1,408th choice for movie Marvel should make. A Civil War movie would be ridiculous because its all about context and just would not even work...unless it was part of a series. Plus, its a good, not great series.

An excerp from Wikipedia:
All the while, he spun plots of intense intrigue, barely hidden sensuality, and hi-fi hipness — and supplying his own version of Bond girls, pushing what was allowable under the Comics Code at the time.
Yeah, I know Wikipedia isn't always reliable, but you get the point.
Plus, I always remembered the iconic "gun holster innuendo."

I agree with Fluke I don't think Civil War would make a great movie. However Secret War would make a good one.
Also Senator I'm aware of things like the holster enuendo, which is great. But like I said thats was just them trying to get a Bond like comic. They stopped doing that once his series got cancelled though
