Bloodlined Calligraphy - Ypsilanti
Label: Facedown Records
Release Date: September 19, 2006
Who:
Female fronted thrash-core band that likely gets more credit than they deserve for being just that. But hey, everyone needs a gimmick.
How is it?:
One of the guys in my band who absolutely LOVES this type of music told me that vocalist Ally French used to be a cheerleader and that’s how she learned to use her throat (umm, for vocals) as well as she does. He could be screwing with me on that, but either way French outdoes a number of men in the genre with her deep growl and even showcases her more feminine chops on the wonderfully put together, “It Can’t Rain All The Time”. The rest of the album is just kind of one big clusterfuck of chug, double drum pedals, and hardcore clichés, but then again aren’t they all these days.
Give me an “X”: “It Can’t Rain All The Time”, “Last Goodbye”
In the team photo: Walls of Jericho, Hatebreed, Straight Line Stitch

Note: Ally French has since been replaced by Ellen Hoffman on vocals
