Fernandez won't be over this year. Kopenenenenenenen might based on his summer league play.
Scott Weber
06/28/07, 09:48 PM
i dont hate him...he just was never going to develop into anything
dude was so good his first year, and shat the bed this year. players are supposed to get better, not worse
he wasn't that much worse, he scored less but the rest of his numbers were pretty much the same. way too hard on the guy, he can still be a 14/9 guy in this league (but he won't be in portland)

Lets go Gerald Wallace, Vince Carter, Chauncey Billups, Rashard Lewis!!!!!!!!
All but Wallace will resign.

06/28/07, 09:51 PM
i hope not. they should unload chucky atkins hahaha
I like how Lowry plays
really doesn't matter, when you make the playoffs 3 years in a row and go 0-12 and fall right back to the worst record in the NBA something is wrong.
i'm pretty sure im the only grizzlies fan around these parts.
well i followed them because of Lowry...but stopped after he got hurt. he plays very well off teh ball, but i dont think theyll really use him and conley at the same time cuz theyre both 6'1

they disappoint me so much
I was just happy to see the picked conley because he was the best available guy
If they would have let him go, there was a chance i would wish death upon pau gasol

Kevin Durant said yesterday that he did not need to be a savior in Seattle, because Ray Allen was there. Now Ray Allen is not there.
It's a bit of a dizzying set of changes for Seattle. Does it all make sense?
ESPN's David Thorpe is all for it. He says:
Sam Presti is hitting the reset button. Now Wally Szczerbiak starts at the two. They will probably move one of their point guards, Luke Ridnour or Earl Watson. Delonte West is a fabulous guy, and he'll give you some good minutes.
Then Jeff Green is an off the charts good person, and probably the best player in this draft -- except for maybe Julian Wright -- to play alongside Kevin Durant. He can help the team without needing the ball, while being your third go-to guy.
I don't think they really have a center. But now maybe you can sign-and-trade Rashard Lewis for someone. I don't think it will happen, but perhaps a point guard and Lewis could get you Jermaine O'Neal. Remember: Indiana is desperate for point guards.
But you certainly don't have to say goodbye to Lewis. He can stay and it would be fine. Kevin Durant, Rashard Lewis, and Jeff Green can all play multiple positions. Even if Kevin Durant comes off the bench and plays 30 minutes, like Ben Gordon did in Chicago, then that would be fine.
Sam Presti has made a great start.

I am totally not sold on the guy, but on a team with so much talent like Portland now, as long as he doesn't have to be a 1st or even 2nd option on offense he is a steal that late.

I think McRoberts can succeed as an occasional 2nd option but primarily 3rd option in an offense, like Scott said. Interesting to hear Jay Bilas talk about McRoberts impressing while playing AAU ball with Oden in Indiana. I completely forgot McRoberts was from Indiana.

High Comedy from the Sports Guy:
It's only fitting that Stern's microphone went out right as he was announcing New Jersey's pick at 17: troubled BC star Sean Williams, the perfect rebounder/shot-blocker on paper for the the Nets. Unfortunately, Sean couldn't attend the draft because he's home watching "Planet Earth" on Blu-ray and eating three bags of Doritos at once.
Dickie V. and S.A.S. scream at each other in a split-screen for a while, followed by them making a dinner bet about whether the 2007 draft will prove deeper than the 2003 draft. Imagine being the waiter at that table? Guys, seriously, don't bother tipping me; I slit both of my wrists 10 minutes ago and I'm bleeding to death as we speak. Thanks, though.

The Lakers' second rounder, Sun Yue looks really good. 6'9" with handles. The "Chinese Magic Johnson"

yea, well no way they stay there in the long term. I guess you can't expect the team to contend right out of the gate, but with JO, Durant and Green...man. I'd think they'd make a few deals trading away Collison and some of their bigs for another guard.

I fully expect the Sonics to contend for a 7 or 8 seed right away with that lineup, or even if they Rashard. And for as much shit as we all give Wally Szczerbiak, this is a dude that scored 20 ppg just the year before last. They also have Damien Wilkins at guard...but yes they do need another guard if they trade Ridnour. Otherwise we'll see a lot of Wally and maybe even the super versatile Jeff Green at 2 this year. It'll be a big lineup.

alright ive been out in the mountains of new hampshire for the past 4 days being a mountain man, so i missed the draft. this thread is huge and im not gonna go back and read it all, so i'll just give my 2 cents:
1st, I have mixed feelings about the Seattle-Boston deal. While I loved that we added a 1A type player next to Pierce, Allen is definitely a risky investment. He's coming off surgery and hes 32, which is nearing the end for SG's. I do, however, like the package we gave up. Wally had become useless to this team, serving only one purpose: clogging up the roster and taking away minutes from younger guys because of his contract. Delonte West is a very good combo guard to have come off the bench, but he was never going to be more then that. Jeff Green, as bright as his future may be, was only going to make this team younger. We couldnt afford to do that ..we've been getting younger for the past 4-5 years. I think this a deal that benefited both teams, but the C's definitely took a risk in making it. If Allen plays a full season at his full potential, the C's are contenders in the East. If he has another year like last, we may just be a border-line playoff team (which would be an obvious failure). And finally, all the pressure is on Tony Allen now. He needs to finally stay healthy and play the incredible defense that he's shown and the C's need. We'll be worthless on defense without his contributions.
As for the rest of the draft .. I thought a lot of teams made really good moves. The only high lottery pick that made me shake my head was the Bucks taking Jianlian. I didnt see much of a need there for him and he came out publicly and said he didnt want to play there. It wouldnt surprise me if he never reached his potential there. The best picks (outside of Oden and Durant), to me, were Minnesota going w/ Corey Brewer at #7 and New Oreleans taking Julian Wright at #13. I love the fit for both guys and I think both will immediately make those teams better. They also got great value at both spots.
As for the BC guys, I think Sean Williams to NJ was a slam dunk. It'll take him time to come around w/ his offense, but he gives them the dominating defensive presence that the team needs. They need to make sure they keep him in line, however, since the past has shown he can't be relied upon. I was thrilled to see Jared Dudley go so high to Charlotte, but I question the fit. Charlotte just committed to Morrison ...why spend your 1st rounder on another wingman? Dudley will be an immediate contributor off the bench w/ his defense, and I think he may eventually supplant Morrison, but he wont be given many opportunities. Morrison will be given every opportunity to keep his job because of the resources the team invested in him.
