at first there was so much hate for noah, now it seems like people are starting to realize the kids a heck of a player, no matter how stupid / annoying he may be.
I wouldn't mind Dallas trading away Terry and a 2nd rounder for a top 15 pick to try and possibly get him.
if we could manage to land Billups via free agency...i'd cream my pants
C - Dampier / Diop
PF - Noah
SF - Dirk
SG - Howard
PG - Billups

if you think hes going to step right in and start, especially for a contender like the Mavs, youre sadly mistaken

I agree that he's not going to step right in and contribute as a starter, but I don't think Diop and Noah are the same player in the least. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Noah fan at all..but c'mon..Diop?

haha what? Diop and Noah are completely different players. namely because Diop is only a presence in the paint and can block shots and do nothing else.
Noah can score, rebound and play D. Plus Noah is MUCH more versatile than Diop. The two players games are nothing alike.
I don't know if Noah would start on the Mavs opening day, but he'd likely be starting shortly after that.
We've started guys like Adrian Griffin and Edwardo Najera at PF before on teams that were tops in the league, its not a stretch AT ALL.

Noah averaged 12 PPG this past year and scored 20 points all of 1 time...his offensive game is WEAK to say the least
livethesounds
06/25/07, 01:52 PM
he's not going to be a KG - Amare type C-PF, and nobody ever said that. But he can put up a double doube (even if it is only 10-10) any given night, or at least come close to that. He's a heck of a defensive player too. Plus he's a fiery guy, and I like that on a team like the Mavericks.
again i'm not saying he's an amazing player, but I think he'll be better than Anderson freaking Verejao
also, with your Diop comparison, i'd take 12 ppg opposed to 2 ppg ANY day of the week. I'm honestly pretty surprised Diop's scoring numbers are that high.

that's not all on him though. a lot of that has to do with the team he was on. they weren't built around one guy having to put up 20 points regularly.
and i wouldn't call him a poor man's anderson verajao, but i definitely think their games are incredibally comparible. and sadly, i think noah will end up being better than andy. but they bring the same kind of game onto the floor.

jared dudley canceled a 2nd workout w/ the Celtics because he's been virtually assured he'll be gone by the time they pick again (32nd).
man, i'm thrilled to see him becoming a late 1st round pick after all the workouts. i think teams finally started to notice that he isnt a freak athlete, hes just a smart basketball player. the spurs seem to be the likeliest destination and i think he'd fit in great there.

"In a lot of ways, the NBA draft doesn't start until the Atlanta Hawks make their choice at No. 3. Whatever the public pressure to take a point guard, rest assured this: They won't be drafting Mike Conley Jr. that high.
After watching him toss brick after brick in Monday's workout with Al Horford and Noah, Atlanta officials had no reason to re-visit a decision they made weeks ago. It isn't that they're not intrigued with Conley, but forget making him the third overall selection. In fact, the Hawks are hoping that if Conley slips past Memphis at No. 4 and Minnesota at No. 7, he will drop down to them at No. 11.
If Conley doesn't make it that far, several league sources said Billy Knight's infatuation with Luke Ridnour will result with the 11th pick being traded to Seattle for the Sonics point guard.
"A lot of the staff there likes Acie Law," one rival executive said, "but Billy has never been sold."
For now, Horford, the 6-foot-10 forward, is expected to be Atlanta's choice at No. 3, but the Hawks will be entertaining trade offers through Thursday's draft. One trade possibility that was discussed but never came together, two league sources said, was Golden State's suggestion that point guard Monta Ellis could be available in a package for the third overall choice"

I think there is a serious chance of him falling that far. We'll see. His stock has lowered in the past few days. He may be the best PG in the draft, but I wouldn't want to overpay for him. I am not convinced he'll be the type of player worthy of a pick that high, or that he's THAT (worth using #3) much better than Acie Law.

Personally, I think Durant has way more hype/upside than Oden. You know what you're getting with Oden, a defensive anchor who could (and probably will) be a 20/10 guy. But you have scouts, analysts, etc calling Durant a T-Mac/KG/blah blah hybrid. We all know how much GM's like to drink the kool-aid on guys upside, which is why Boston won't trade Jefferson and LA is hesitant to trade Bynum. Yes, Oden has huge upside, but Durant's is higher, imo.

-The Phoenix Suns are discussing a trade with the Charlotte Bobcats for the No. 8 pick to get into the NBA draft lottery, multiple sources close to both organizations told ESPN.com Tuesday night.
Although Phoenix forward Shawn Marion can opt out of his contract at the end of next season, a source close to the Suns told ESPN.com that he is not part of a Charlotte deal and is expected to stay put.
ESPN's Jim Gray is reporting, however, that Marion could be part of a three-way trade that would land Kevin Garnett in Phoenix. Marion would go to Boston and the Celtics would send the No. 5 pick in Thursday's draft and players to Minnesota.
-The Celtics could throw a curveball at the rest of the lottery. They are working out USC junior guard Nick Young on Wednesday morning at their practice facility in Waltham.
Young, who has been projected by most NBA personnel to go as high as No. 13 to New Orleans, is a personal favorite of Celtics' assistant general manager Leo Papile. Papile wants Ainge and Rivers to see Young before Thursday's draft and decide if he is a viable alternative for the Celtics at No. 5 if the team decides against going with China's Yi Jianlian. Young, considered one of the top shooting guards in the draft, could displace Green, Noah or Brewer as the Celtics' Plan B.

hahaha. Even though I'm an Oden guy, this made me laugh
Bill: Chad, you're welcome -- just make sure the Sonics' trainer keeps putting in those one and a half inch lifts in Oden's left sneaker so his legs are the same size. Also, you might want to have him wear a splint during practice so he doesn't reinjure that bum wrist. Oh, and he's going to be nervous on Opening Night, for every Portland game and every playoff game -- just prescribe him a drug called Valerian, it calms the nerves and shouldn't affect his play too much. Good luck and congrats on getting the next Patrick Ewing.

As to players falling, I don't agree with Jeff Green. If the Sixers take him, that's not necessarily falling. A lot of mock drafts have him at 12, so that's pretty logical I think. I'd agree more with Brandan Wright slipping a bit.

Oden is funny.
if stuckey or nick young drop to 15 the pistons better fucking jump on that. thortan before stuckey even though we need a small forward more. i wish they would show more interest in affalo for the their second pick and had not given up on law but apparently a point guard dosent matter to the pistons, even though theres a decent chance billups leaves and hunter retires.
so im hoping for stuckey, nick young or crittenton for the first pick but Im hearing in the papers here that it will be thaddeus young.
as long as the pistons can pull a first round point guard and a small forward, I'll be happy. save the big men for the second round.

He's good, but it seems he has a lot of attitude problems. I saw him this year against my school (I think we won that game), and he was a good player, but if he has this bad of team chemistry for a college team in a weak conference, then I can't imagine how his attitude is in the NBA.

If the Sonics get Oden, they trade Ray Allen and Robert Swift to the Celtics for Paul Pierce and the #5 pick, where they hopefully take Mike Conley Jr. Then, the Sonics deal to Atlanta is still very, very much on the table. They hope to trade Luke Ridinour to Atlanta for the #11 pick, in which they would select Rodney Stuckey, giving the Sonics a 2007 nucleus of Mike Conley Jr, Rodney Stuckey, Paul Pierce, Rashard Lewis, and Greg Oden.

Bill Simmons on why he would take Durant over Oden
"If I'm Portland's GM, I just spent the last five weeks wondering about Greg Oden. What's his ceiling? Can he be better than Patrick Ewing? Alonzo Mourning? Can he become as dominant as Tim Duncan? Should I be worried about his surgically repaired wrist, or the fact that he might suffer back problems some day because his legs are different sizes? What about the fact that he likes basketball, but doesn't love it? The thing is, all these franchise centers are basically the same -- it just comes down to their inherent will to dominate a game. Hakeem had that will, Duncan has it, Moses had it, Shaq had it in 2000 and 2001 ... for whatever reason, Ewing didn't have it, and neither did Mourning or Robinson. Can you see Oden stepping onto a basketball court and saying, "There's no way we're losing this f-ing game. I'm destroying the other team tonight." For some reason, I can't.
Well, Durant plays that way every game. He's a cold-blooded killer. I hate pre-draft workouts, but didn't you find it interesting that Oden was nervous, awkward and apologetic during his workout in Portland, but a confident Durant strolled in there two days later and blew everyone away? You know what's funny about that? I knew that was going to happen. One guy plays basketball because he was created to play basketball; the other plays because he was bigger than everyone else and it seemed like the logical thing to do. If there was a pickup game and Oden was on one side, Durant was on the other, and your life depended on the game, you'd pick Durant. You would.
So if Portland takes Oden, it will happen because of conventional NBA logic (you always take the franchise center), because their fans are pushing for him (obviously, nobody watches college basketball in Portland) and because he's a personable, gregarious, likable big guy for a city that's desperately needed a personable, gregarious, likable big guy ever since Bill Walton ditched Portland for San Diego. I'm not saying those reasons are wrong. In fact, I understand them completely. But if I'm Portland's GM, I'm taking the guy with a legitimate chance to go down with Bird, Magic, MJ, Baylor, Oscar, West, Duncan, Pettit, Havlicek and every other great non-center who ever played in the National Basketball Association. I'm taking Kevin Durant."
And then he says this: "He's a sure thing. I think he's the surest thing that's come into the league since Jordan."
Guess he has never heard of Lebron James.

dudley's a weird dude, cause looking at him and seeing that he pretty much looks like a sketchier jim jones, you'd think the dude was an idiot gangbanger or something. but he's seriously one of the smartest, well spoken players you could ever hear in an interview.

and i disagree about sean williams, dude is a serious beast, and everyone smokes weed in the nba, once he learns how to not get caught, he'll be a huge defensive presence.
he was a beast for 15 games against shit opponents...i would not pick him.

Ha one of my old best friends is a Sonics fan. Last year I watched the draft with him (haven't really hung out with him since), but he about shit a brick when he saw them pick Sene. Only cause they already had like 2 or 3 project centers then they drafted yet another one. I was shitting a brick at that time as well, though, cause the Rockets traded Rudy Gay.

Yi reminds me of Dirk Nowitzki when I watch the videos of him on ESPN. He has a killer turnaround jumper, according to them, for a big man. Then again, he's playing against shit in those leagues out there.

um....ok
some rumors out of dallas about Devin Harris to the Bucks before the draft
An Eastern Conference insider said he'd heard the Dallas Mavericks (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/dal/) were entertaining an offer to get the No. 6 pick from Milwaukee for Devin Harris (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3822/), a deal that might have included other players.
While that proposal might make sense because Harris grew up in Milwaukee and the Bucks need a point guard, it wasn't valid, the Dallas Morning News reports.
One intriguing player who worked out for the Mavericks was Demetrius Nichols, a 6-8 forward from Syracuse.

-• The Portland Trail Blazers and New York Knicks have had serious discussions about a trade that would send Zach Randolph and Martell Webster to the Knicks for Steve Francis and Channing Frye. Other parts have been included in proposals, but all combinations include Randolph.
• The Washington Wizards are believed to be eying Italian guard Marco Belinelli with the 16th pick.
• Sean Williams, the troubled Boston College center, is expected to be the Nets' choice at No. 17.
Uhh.. Fuck that trade. I want to get rid of Zach..but not THAT bad.

they're doing good things there. dumping randolph is a good move, but bringing francis in basically nullifies that.

why would the Bobcats do that with one of the better centers in the league already. If they wanna deal Okefor somewhere (like dallas please) then that makes a lot of sense.
