I came down to school two weeks ago from Portland, Oregon to Los Angeles, CA. Well, I'm in love with a girl back home. I knew it then, I know it now. We've only been dating for a few months but she was like my best friend for a while before then. She's like the closest person in the world to me, and right now I seriously feel like its unbearable to be here. All I can think about is wanting to go home and be with her. It sucks so bad. . . I've been hurt by so many fucking girls in the past, and now I've finally found someone who I know I'm meant to be with. . . and I can't be. Do any of you have experience in long-distance relationships or have any sort of advice to me? Our rules were kind of whatever happens in college happens, but still, my mind really isn't there right now if I tried to hook up with someone else, and she tells me every night she thinks it'll be the same way for her when she goes to school in a month. . . any advice? Thanks a lot.

keep in touch by email, phone, and snail mail occasionally, send a picture of you to her, try and visit every once in a while..and i hope everything works out:)
long distance dont usually work. yours might though, so put in a lot of effort to stay in contact and visit her if she really means that much to you.

Thanks a lot for the advice guys, I really appreciate it. I've been talking to her on the phone once or twice a day since I got down here, and we've promised each other that we'll talk every day until I come home for Winter Break. The funny thing is, it's like I know this kind of situation usually doesn't work. . . but I have no doubt in my mind it will. I love her too much. I just have to find something to get me through the time without her.
Thanks again.

His sig's from a song called "Summertime" by Mae. That band is talented in general.. with really nice, upbeat tunes. Definitely worth checking out.

basically what everyone else said.. talk to her on the phone, which youre doing, write her letters and send her pictures of everything around you so she feels like shes there (ex, you in dorm room). umm what else. try to send her little presents every once in a while. like a few chocolates with a sweet note. maybe send her a comfy sweatshirt from your new school, that youve worn so it smells pleasantly of your cologne... etc :-). and i guess just visit her as soon as you can.

I agree with all of what was said...especially sending her little gifts here and there. You could cut class on a friday and go home to see her for the weekend. Girls love surprises.
My boyfriend and I got the same cell phone service provider so we could talk together for free. Text messaging is a godsend! You can sit in class and have a conversation with her. Try not to dwell on how much you miss her and just think about how confident you are with the relationship and how great it will be when you see each other.

long distance realationships can and will work if you work at it it is almost like having a job if do good you will get paid good. Be sure that you dont try to distance yourself because there is already enough distance there. Yeah and keep talking to her through email, phone, and even snail mail because there is just something about having snail mail it means more and no matter how busy you get always find a minute to just call and say whats up.
