As many of you may know, I solidified my status as AP's worst singer who writes good a long time ago. Here's a song to continue that.

This is Stand Down, Shithead, the lyrics of which many of you did not enjoy, which I really never understood: I thought it was one of my better songs.

I didnt listen to the song.
But the lyrics are a lot better than most of the shit written on this site. Definite potential there.

Just because she's unconscious of the fact
doesn't mean the queen isn't really our slave
And just because history's in the making
doesn't mean that it hasn't been written before
that bit was awesome, and the rest was pretty good too. don't think i liked the first section too much though. as for the song... not really my style, but it was alright. you have some good ideas, but some of the lyrics don't seem to fit really. it seems you're rushing to fit the lines because there isn't enough time to get them in, so it sounds a bit monotone because of that. you're not AP's worst singer, but you're not AP's best. you have potential with your voice.

I concur with this statement. You must make compromises for your melodies. I found the moments when you were trying to force your lyrics in where the moments when your vocals didn't sound as well. Anyways, I wish I could get my acoustic to sound as good in your recording.

I would do much better if I rerecorded this song, it was really just a rough demo that I've been meaning to redo but haven't gotten around to. I kind of just wrote that melody as I went.
EDIT: I was way too defensive in that, hahaha. I agree with both of you, and will rerecord it keeping the melody in mind.

The lyrics are alright, the guitar playing isn't terrible, but I don't like the vocals at all. Ted Leo is so good

P.S. I'd like to say that I think the abbreviation for 'et cetera' is the stupidest thing ever. It's two latin words ('and the rest') and it just doesn't make sense being 'etc.'
We abbreviate "Anno Domini" to A.D., so shouldn't something like "Et Cetera" be "E.C."? And for that matter, "Et" is the same as "And" which would be cut out of most abbreviations.... Although, in this case, "And" starts the phrase.... I forget what the rules on that are. I think you'd notate it.
Anyway, some random computer jargon for you to enjoy?

yeah, I see where you are coming from. The lyrics forum used to be full of people who were serious about writing and working to improve their writing. Now, it just seems cluttered with new users who are simply submitting virtually the same peices. There are not many regulars in this forum anymore that I have noticed, which is a shame. I rather enjoyed conversations with those associated with the lyrics forum (including you despite some arguments), but there are so many new users posting now, and fewer regulars. Anyways, I feel like I'm just rambling now, so I'll just hope that I was somewhat coherent. Oh yeah, nice to see you posting in here again.

Well my names Chris Dowd and I found out about ap.net from last years warped, and have been going on here since, so i finally made an account.
Also i'm interested in the lyrics forum because, unlike many 14 year old guys, enjoy writing, and have written alot of lyrics. So thats basically me so feel free to chat;
