I'm curious for your thoughts here. In terms of attitude, ethos, and overall success, who are the greatest sporting organizations in the world right now?
In my opinion you've got the New Zealand All Blacks in Rugby, the New England Patriots in American Football, and Man United in Soccer. They stand out glaringly to me. Any thoughts?

Haha i'm sure that was sarcasm! Never sure though. Yeah the All Blacks wear all black on the Rugby field funnily enough! An awesome team all round needless to say!

Ignorance. The New Zealand rugby teams jersey colour, black, was chosen by Tom Ellison, a bright young Maori scholar who latched onto rugby in the 1880s as a means to perpetuate traditional Maori ball sport techniques and philosophies. Ellison chose black because it represented the most feared predator of his ancestors time, the Hokioi - the largest eagle of all time. Maori believe that the Hokioi, which died out several centuries before the first wave of British settlers, was a tree dwelling nocturnal hunter of moa, which had black feathers. It's very ill advised to brand the great nation of NZ in that way. The Hokioi captured and killed its prey, mainly moa, but also dogs and people, by "dive bombing" them from the great height of the tallest trees. Maori mythology talks about the immense value that the black feathers had in ancient Maori society.

The Haka [or "Kapa O Pango"] [not the Macarena I'm afraid! lol] was designed to reflect the multi-cultural make-up of New Zealand — in particular the influence of Polynesian cultures.

No I really have to disagree. I don't even support the club but I've got so much respect for them [and i support Blackburn Rovers!]. The sheer aura and history of the club is immense. Their whole team was decimated after the plane crash in Munich in 1958, yet they rebuilt from scratch and won the European Cup after only ten years! It's a club of the people, always has been and always will. The best players in the world during the past fifty years have played for the club...Duncan Edwards, Jackie Carey, Bobby Charlton, George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, Denis Irwin, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes...ahh i could go on. Their youth set up speaks for itself, its been a hallmark of the club to bring through all their top players. I just cant see how they're overrated.

Wow they won the euro cup after ten years, theyve only won it once since then. They're idea of youth set up is scouting other teams young players and buying them cuz they're school stinks. Grow your own players Man U

I would suggest that you should research the club if you're unfamiliar with their history. They had to rebuild the team from scratch after '58. You don't find players like Duncan Edwards and Liam Whelan everyday. It takes time for a team to be put developed. The European Cup is not too easy to win i might add, never mind the national league and cup competitions.
I think you'll find men like Bobby Charlton, George Best, Tony Dunne, Bill Foulkes, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville... [the list goes on!]... were developed from schoolboy age through to the professional ranks to win many English Championships, FA Cups, and yes two European Cups to boot! Men like Sir Matt and Sir Alex maintain the standard for exellence at the club. It's the greatest model for a winning ethos and mentality in world sport...but hey that's just my opinion!
p.s. I'd wholeheartedly put the Yankee's in the same league as United.

There's a lot of great United players over the past thirty years, too many to mention. The majority were all home-grown around the British and Irish Isles. Real Madrid are a great club and sure they've won a lot of European Cup's, but the structure of the club is a total shambles. Manchester United are a model of consistency over the past twenty years in particular. Sir Alex Ferguson has maintained Sir Matt Busby's legacy during that time to an unprecedented level. re: Real Madrid: They have never had consistency in the board room and that's the place where championships are won. They sacked Capello after he won La Liga last month, they did the same with Vicente Del Bosque a few years ago. They even famously turned down the chance to sign Ronaldinho because he's not good looking! That's pretty pathetic. As successful sporting organizations in world sport are measured [financial and sporting success], Manchester United are by far the most consistent.

Haha, Yep he sure has. He signed with Barcelona a couple of years ago from Paris St. Germain. He's the main playmaker now, awesome player. Barca hadn't won La Liga for six years before he arrived...a long time without winning for those guys i might add. Then in his first two seasons = two La Ligas! Check out the video below. It's quite good!

Thank you sir. Maybe i should have made the sentence more specific but i thought it looked pretty definitive for anyone who took the time to read it. Yeah, for the record Real Madridturned down the chance to sign Ronaldinho during a bidding war with Barcelona in the summer 0f '04. Real Madrid didn't believe he was a marketable asset for their club. Which i still believe is pretty pathetic and typical of the Real Madrid organization... i.e. style over substance.

Thats true. He's been one of the best Real players over the last four years, even though a lot of journalists say he was only signed to sell shirts. Beckham always gave 100% for every team he played on, perhaps not the fastest or most naturally gifted player in the world but he's worked really hard at his game to get where he is today. If Madrid had been run properly from the board room down over the last few years [8 managers in four years is ridiculous], they would have won a lot more trophies with Beckham in the side.
