The Glass Wall
When you first opened that box
And in the spot where your innocence once sat
You revealed the bottom of a hole where the light shines up
And the glare in the corner of my eye
Makes it no surprise
Won't you save me
The trouble from this pain
Not knowing when
A conversation with you will be okay
It's just as hard for you as it is for me
Knowing you're on the other side of this two way mirror
And not able to extend my hand
With the illusion of you not being there
Feeling like you're east and I'm west
When you're really just a couple of inches
From being in this room with me
People always asking where you went
Yet you sit right next to them
And I'm still having to tell each and everyone
You left yourself
To find out who you need to be
And soon all will finally be able to see
The straight and narrow
Is where you've planted your feet
The glass wall will finally come down
And everyone will forget
That right before the thunder came
You had to sit in silence
Pretending to be deaf
And almost missed shelter by a few seconds
