Quietdrive
July 10, 2007
The Living Room in Providence, RI
Get Happy Tour (should be the same set for all dates)
1) Maybe Misery
2) Take A Drink
3) Get Up
4) Rush Together
5) Handsome Devil's Benediction
6) Rise From The Ashes
7) Time After Time
It should be noted that I won tickets to this show via an AP.net contest. However, neither the venue nor Bowling for Soup's management had any information about this. Thankfully, both were very cool and trusted me. I was supposed to get a meet and greet with all the bands after the show and a "small merch pack." Instead I only got to meet BFS and didn't get anything, but I did get to go on their bus, which was pretty cool.

Yeah, it happens I guess. Here's a very short review:
Army of Freshman opened. They had two keyboardists, which is news to me. One of them sang all the choruses and a frontman (obviously) did all the verses. They had a lot of energy and managed to get the crowd going for the first time of the night. I had only heard one song previously, but this made me want to check out more.
Melee was up next. They talked like friends at practice ("You sound like Pete Griffin from Family Guy") and even noodled around on their instruments (playing Sabbath, Metallica) during their sound check. I heard on here that they put on a really good live show, but I wasn't impressed. They're not really my thing musically, but I didn't think their show was anything special either.
Quietdrive followed. They were solid. Very energetic live show. Made me want to listen to more. They had their CD on sale for only $5 and I wanted to buy one, but I was right up front and didn't want to lose my spot. Their cover of Time After Time sounded pretty good, but the rest of their stuff was better.
Bowling For Soup, of course, was last. I love seeing these guys. Not only do they sound great musically, they are hilarious between songs. Chris, whom you may know as the fat guitarist, has some great stage moves. They played a pretty solid set (though no "Bitch Song," which was kind of disappointing, as that's usually a staple). They were all really nice at the meet and greet.

Quietdrive didn't play Pretend? That sucks...I like that song live.

Nope, it's Bowling for Soup's tour. They played second to last. BFS played about an hour, maybe a little longer.
