Flight of the Conchords follows the trials and tribulations of a two man, digi-folk band from New Zealand as they try to make a name for themselves in their adopted home of New York City. The band is made up of Bret McKenzie on guitar and vocals, and Jemaine Clement on guitar and vocals.

Bret and Jemaine have moved to New York in the hope of forging a successful music career. So far they've managed to find a manager (whose "other" job is at the New Zealand Consulate), one fan (a married obsessive) and one friend (who owns the local pawn shop) -- but not much else. http://www.hbo.com/img/core_template/spacer.gif

There are a few flashes of comedic brilliance but overall its a bit lackluster in my opinion. It has the potential though and the two leads seem like hilarious dudes. Looking forward to it.

I saw them with Demitri Martin, and at that point, I had not heard much about them. The banter between songs was probably funnier than most of the songs, but a few of them were absolutely hilarious. The highlights being one about robots and something about a racist dragon.

As for the tv show... It seems like my kind of thing, but I havent been able to get into it. I should watch some more episodes. They were walking around with a film crew when we were waiting outside to see them... wonder if it was something for the show.

I found it to be very funny. The songs were hilarious and I knew that Murray was going to somehow lose his fortune and it was funny how they handled that. Can't believe I have to wait a month for the same episode to premier though.

EDIT: Upon second viewing, this episode wasn't as great, but good. Second episode was better.

This weeks episode was way way better than last weeks. The song "Sugarlumps" and the last song of the episode were just hilarious. Again, way better than last weeks which came as a sense of relief.

Sugalumps is awesome. The dancing, the "rapping," and I love Bret's vocal delivery, a la Boom King style. The Dave cameo is awesome too. I bought the song on iTunes and have listened to it like 10 times already.

ugh! the presale was so stressful! Bruce Springsteen tickets went on sale at the same time so it was so super slow! I got tickets in the balcony in the back but my boyfriend got row 20 after I bought mine. But of course I did ticketfast to print mine, so my name will be on mine... but that shouldn't matter... we should be able to sell them (and I just want face value) hopefully the show sells out so we aren't stuck with two sets of tickets!

"The Tough Brets" was a really good episode. I loved in "Hurt Feelings" the part when Bret rhymes "into town" four times cuz that's something stupid that rappers always do and I hate it. Also died when Jemaine said "Have you ever been told that you look like a llama." :-d

Just re-watched episode two of season two again. I don't see what all the complaining is about--there were some hilarious bits:

-Murray's "mom and dad guitar" idea

-Mel buying a super straw and then subconsciously sucking on it alluringly

-The whole "Sugar Lumps" song

-When they're sitting in the dark and Bret asks Jemaine his expression, he replies "sad that we don't have any electricity but satisfied that I was right about the cup." :-d

-The steel drum solo in "You don't have to be a prostitute."

as someone stated earlier i think i much prefer the dialogue than the newer songs...i always love the "band meeting" bits...again, if you enjoy FOTC make sure to check out The Mighty Boosh...you'll be in for quite a treat.

The better episodes contained the songs they were using for the past 2 years in their stand up. They were already reaching in the second half of the season. The next season, which will be made up of mostly, if not entirely, new material, will likely be even more disjointed.Well, I pretty much nailed it so far.

I haven't seen the newest episode yet. With most of the songs on season 1 already have been written before the series... I can tell how the new season flows better since they made up the songs later. As opposed to trying to make episodes around the songs. Is Jim Gaffigan in the new episode? He's my boyfreinds fave comedian and he's excited for that ep.
