want a whole cd of stuff like this, not just specific songs. like, a sad band. look at this stuff to see what type of music i like. i really the following songs for thes type of music: night drive, 23, and drugs or me by jimmy eat world; save us by cartel; fix you by coldplay; decembers by hawthorne heights(but i hate the rest of their music,); YOU ARE THE MOON and LIGHTHOUSE by the hush sound; paper scars by lovedrug; sail to the moon and lots of other stuff by radiohead; the district sleeps alone by the postal service; yesterdays feelings by the used; new american classic and divine intervention by taking back sunday.
a lot o the time i like the slow songs off of cds from heavy fast bands.
like underoath's slow stuff and all that.

Bright Eyes (especially Fevers and Mirrors), Cursive (especially Domestica), Nick Drake, and Elliott Smith should do the trick for sad music.

Bright Eyes (especially Fevers and Mirrors)
this takes me back to a high school breakup. haha.
i also like millencolin's "the ballad," micheal jackson's "little suzie" (i think is the title), further seems forever "justice prevails," mayday parade "miserable at best," but bright eyes still takes the cake, "haligh..."

the first thing iw ould tell you would most likely be haligh, haligh, a lie, haligh by bright eyes. also some of conor's other stuff. recomendations include:
haligh...
going for the gold
happy birthday to me (feb 15th)
nothing gets crossed out
actually that list could go on forever because i am a huge bright eyes fan and most of his songs are sad haha.
or also the spill canvas:
the tide
black dresses

Yeah, so you never listen to "sad" music unless your gf's just broken up with you?
Wow. Explore some genres, dude. Branch out. Not all songs have to be happy and loud to kick some serious ass.

it depends.
if you want to make yourself feel worse about like maybe a girl, id listen to like jamisonparker or kevin devine.
if a relationship didnt work, id just blame her and listen to something angry like the acacia strain

alison krauss and brad paisly - whisky lullaby.

Owen's "No Good For No One Now"
Great CD. None of the songs are as "epic" sounding as say JEW's "23", but "Nobody's Nothing" is close and my personal favorite.

Brand New is amazing... Their acoustic stuff is sad.
The Cure - Disintegration. Most depressing album ever.
AFI - This Time Imperfect
Joy Division - Pretty much anything by them.
The Smiths - Same as Joy Division.

Most of Brand New's material seems pretty sad, so I'd suggest them.
The Early November - The Path is somewhat a slowed down, sad cd. But, it could be a bit out there for you.
And, though they generally aren't a sad band and the song is somewhat uptempo, the saddest song ever to me:
As the Footsteps Die Out Forever - Streetlight Manifesto
