So I was at a show a few months back (Saves The Day/Say Anything) and was standing fairly close to the front as STD was getting ready to play. I noticed a couple of rednecks behind me who were shirtless and smoking (two strikes in my book). As I overheard their conversations it was pretty obvious that these guys weren't fans of the band and were just looking to cause problems. Once the music started, they immediatley started pushing and shoving kids who obviously weren't interested in "moshing". One of the guys attempted to crowd-surf and the fans (who were sick of their bullshit) dropped him. He jumped up and started angrily swinging his arms--trying to hit as many people as possible. I and a few other guys finally grabbed ahold of him before he hurt anyone and pushed him out of the crowd.

I have absolutely no idea why someone would pay $25+ to go see a band he isn't even a fan of, only to piss people off. If Saves The Day hadn't been so awesome, those jerks would have probably ruined the show for me.

Feel free to rant, swap horror stories of assholes you've encountered at shows.

(This could be fun)

this one hideous bitch made me stand on one foot at a show. i could've stood normally but i didn't want to stand to close her and i was also pushed up against this security podium, which is some box and i almost fell over it numerous times.

HAHA yes. I went to a Despised Icon show, and some metalhead brought his gf to the front of the crowd with him. People kept stagediving on top of them and crowd surfing towards them, u know, like at every other deathcore show. But he kept giving these pissed off looks and pushing whoever stagedived on top of them away, so I purposefully got on stage and threw my body right the fuck on top of them. It was damned worth it

I don't see why any one would see a band for over 10$.

We have our assholes at shows, but they are assholes on purpose, if you get what I'm saying. They usually are touring with the band and real nice guys.

Yeah, I should clarify. I have NO problem with people crowd surfing, diving, moshing, etc. It's when people cross the line of "just wanting to have a good time" into "wanting to see someone bleed". That's when I get pissed off.

people who throw shit need to fuck off, i hate when beer bottles/gatorade bottles (especially at warped) get thrown around hitting people or getting people drenched with liquid from the bottle. it's fucking rude for the band that's playing and rude for the people wanting to see the show.

this is so true. I think in general people who want to cause problems. One kid lost his shoe at an Anti-Flag show and threw me out of the way because he wanted to find it. I can tell you I surely wasnt standing on it an dit wasnt anywhere near me. Im sorry you lsot your shoe...but that doesnt mean you get to act like a jerk.

i have hundreds of asshole stories (which tend to end with them trying to pick a fight with me), but once at an ataris show, my glasses got shattered (pun intended), and a bunch of people actually shoved away the mish pit so I could save my lost lens.

then i go outside to check on it, and tim pagnotta from sugarcult makes fun of me. but everyone knows hes an asshole lol.

At the last show I went to, a lot of people were moshing and I was being pushed into the people behind me. So these two girls I got shoved into gave me a dont-touch-me-or-you'll-die look. Then I got shoved into them again on accident. Then they told me not to run into them. It so annoying when people act like that. You shouldn't be going to a show expecting not to be run over, pushed or shoved.

getting on stage and purposely throwing yourself at people? sounds like an asshole at a show...

There is going to be movement at a show, i dislike people who get pissed that you touch them at a concert almost as much as the more aggressive dudes, almost. I really dont get the whole hardcore, moshing to mess people up thing... some people have some issues. not a fan of the crowd surfers (mainly because of warped tour) something about watching behind you so you dont get kicked in the head or have a body destroy your neck, id rather watch the band. I can at least hold my ground against people not over my head.

I can think of a few interesting stories about some lame people in crowds.

Some dudes were at an RX Bandits show, pretty huge guys, and they just started throwing themselves at people who were dancing around minding their own business... the band tore into those guys, they left.

Suicide Machines at warped tour 03, they split the crowd into two and had them charge at each other, braveheart style... kinda the ultimate moshpit. People were getting close lined... a lot of assholes in that instant.

I saw my friend get bit in the arm by a little girl who was maybe 15 during the Ataris... people need their space i guess.

During Govt Mule, Lewis Black was on stage, this guy threw a bottle that hit him in the head. What a crappy person... I think the whole crowd tore into that guy.

This fat dude at a Tool show took off all his clothes and started flipping out... running at people, flailing about. I think he was having a bad trip or something though... so maybe he wasen't an asshole, still not cool.

i always seem to get stuck right next to that couple...but thankfully i'm tall to see over them it's not so much an issue of not being able to see or anything, it's the issue of "get a fucking room"

Totally agree with you about crowd surfers dude. I know some people get a kick out of it, but it's never fun to be the one surfed on. Never understood the purpose of it, to me it's pointless and very annoying.

And that's also one of the many reasons why I love RxB shows. It (usually) is just a bunch of people looking to have a good time and groove to the music. No moshers, crowd-surfers or stupid people. And Matt always puts an end to any stupid stuff that may be going on.

This is a public notice:

For heavens sake, don't smother yourselves in cologne and/or perfume before a show. There is nothing worse than a mixture of smoke/sweat/body odor/cologne in a crowded room. Don't be a jackass, you're going to a show, not trying to pick up drunk nearly-unconscious girls at a bar. You're not here to impress anyone with your manly scent. The same thing goes with Axe/Tag.

Those people piss me off because I have a pretty intense allergic reaction to copius amounts of the stuff, and in an environment where it's already tough to breathe, it's pretty much like some kind of unintentional effort on my life, and I know I'm not alone in such allergies.

I understand that there's going to be movement, but when intense swaying starts occuring at a show, I can't help but think that somewhere in the crowd there is this dude who is pushing the people around him with all his might and starting the whole thing. How else does something like that occur? Most people are capable of standing still in close proximity to each other.

As a female with long hair, I had previously purposely wore my hair up to shows that were packed exactly for this reason. However, during a show I was yelled at by the guy next to me since my pony tail whacked him in the face. According to him it stung and he asked me to put my hair down. While i realize this is prob. an isolated incident, no matter what my hair is going to get in the way. Sorry.
I recently just saw BTBAM and had multiple instances of people being assholes.
I too do not enjoy prissy girls who come to shows, like BTBAM, and make faces when they are even so much as touched. What do you expect? I enjoy moshing to an extent. I'll tolerate people running in a big circle. However, here's a few things i hate.
Crowd surfing, no mater how light you are, is annoying. I paid my money to see this band. I don't appreciate being jumped on every 2 seconds and having my "experience" interrupted. Again, like i said, i don't like girls who just stand there and make their faces, however if you feel the need to start doing big wind mills and poke me in the eye, or start throwing punches and kicking like an idiot, you are not only going to get a look from me but most likely also a kidney punch. Eventually at this show, a space formed for these "hardcore dancers" which was fine. Though i may still think you look like a fucking idiot, you have your space and you aren't punching me in the face without consideration.
I think this was said already, but i absolutely cannot stand the person who just runs at full speed into everyone.
And my last rant will be shirtless guys. Not only do i NOT want to see you with your shirt off, i also don't want to be pressed up against your sweaty, shirtless body. I still have to wear a shirt even if it's a million degrees, so should you.

I'm usually ok with all the moshing, crowd surfing, and hardcore dancing. They just need to watch where they're going.

At this year's Taste of Chaos, this hardcore dancer elbowed me right in the eye. Gave me a black eye for about a week and a half. I gave him a good kick in the knee.

THAT IS ONE OF THE WORST THINGS EVER. It's so incredibly rude when people do that. I was at a show once and New Atlantic was playing, and people kept screaming "Matches! Matches!" for The Matches (obviously) to come on. They were actually in the lineup, but still, that's pretty disrespectful. At one point, one of the guitarists got really pissed off and called out that group of kids from the stage.

The other thing that really sucks is when you have a group of really tall people in front of you who can't stand still. Right, you're tall, and you can't help that, but at least STAND IN ONE SPOT so I can try to find a way to see the stage around you. That gets pretty annoying.
