Best Simspsons season?

I wouldnt be surprised if this has been a poll a couple times in the past but Ive never come across it. Seeing all this talk about the Simpsons with the movie and seeing how much the franchise has evolved really makes me miss what the simpsons used to be.

I know this is a poll for more diehard simpson fans too that have the dvd box sets but just use your memory to the best you can.

i have no clue, i've never seen all 17 seasons. so hard to decide.

Oh man... this is a daunting task. I know I've seen a vast majority of the episodes, aside from of the more recent seasons. I'm going to have to look up what episodes were what seasons and then get back to this.

Conan wrote a few episodes in 2 so i chose that one on principle. But they're all awesome in my book.

I agree. The first season was ass.

I went with 7 because it has some goodies like "Who Shot Mr. Burns?"

After looking back... I went with season 6. A lot of classics, not to mention a fairly constant stream of good episodes.

My top 5 look something like this: 6>9>7>8>2

Besides season 2, i thought the earlier seasons had a lot of weak episodes, though there are some of my favorites in those seasons. I thought the best overall were 6-11.

Season eight without a DOUBT. Seasons 5,6, and 7 were all fucking AMAZING but season 8 is PERFECT. Season 10 comes out on DVD this coming tuesday, so we'll see how that one fairs compared to the rest.

This season is really good compared to the last six or seven years. Even so, it doesn't hold a fucking candle to seasons nine or below.

season 8 had some gems.

if i remember right, that season also had frank grimes (one of my absolute all time favorites) and the episode where homer tries to keep bart from turning gay

Season 9, because it has my all time favorite episode "Bart Star" where bart joins a pee-wee football team. So many great jokes are in that one episode that me and my roomate still quote to this day on a reuglar basis. Season 9 was great because it was still a young show where they didn't give a crap if they said something offensive, but mature enough to not have lame plots like bart switching tests with martin and going to a smart school.

my favorites are probably 4 to 10. I think that anything before that and the plot was too lame and anything afterwards it just gets ridiculous. I mean they've obviously ran out of genuinely funny ideas that are still somewhat sensical and all the jokes seem kind of false and force to me on the very latest seasons. I don't know... I'm kind of upset of what it's become and I thought the movie would actually turn things around for me but it was just a huge disappointment really

I'd say 8 or 9, but I missed tons of newer ones cause I gave up on them for a while when they got sucky. So I dunno if I missed good newer ones! Aahhh!! So much to catch up on! But I just got 8 & it has some of my favorite episodes: Grimey, Larry Burns, zzzzzap, Scorpio, Flanders freaks out, the Beer Baron....
