i know its been a while since this record came out. but i love the lyrics on this cd and i could name a bunch of them that mean a lot to me.
-ask me what its like to have myself so figured out
wish i knew...
-i just want to believe in us
every word in "ok i believe you but my tommy gun don't". it's ego-tistical and they know how unbelievable they are and how good their new cd was going to be. i remember reading a quote from jesse posted by tate a long time ago that stated their new cd wasn't going to be as catchy as their first and that a lot of people won't like it....HAH!
"i am heaven sent,
dont you dare forget.
i am all you've ever wanted,
what all the other boys all promised."
and...
"Oh, we're so c-c-c-c-c-controversial.
we are entirely smooth.
we admit to the truth,
we are the best at what we do.
and these are the words you wish you wrote down.
this is the way you wish your voice sounds,
hansome and smart.
oh my tongue's the only muscles on my body
that works harder than my heart.
and its all from watching tv,
and from speeding up my breathing.
wouldnt stop if i could.
oh it hurts to be this good."
my god brand new is so amazing.
and if you let me have my way I swear I'll tear you apart

as far as i'm concerned, the whole album is just one big, long favorite quote. great band, great music, great lyrics. enough with the deja threads.

"You can sin or spend the night all alone."
"It's ladies night. All the girls drink for free."
"If looks could really kill then my profession would be staring."
"I'm an old abandoned church with broken pews and empty aisles."
"He whispers that he loves her but she’s probably only looking for s...o much more than he could ever give a life free of lies and meaningful relationship."
But my personal favorite is actually:
"And though our kids are blessed, their parents let them shoulder all the blame."

"We slip concealed back to the keep.
Concede to do the work for free.
We prey as wolves among the sheep and slit the neck of soldiers while they sleep."
also, "Ok, I believe you but my tommy gun don't" <- best title ever

The kind of song that ignites the airwaves
The kind of song that makes people glad to be where they are with whoever they're there with."

My secrets for a buck. Watch me as I cut myself wide open on this stage. Yes, I am paid to spill my guts. I won't see home till spring. Oh, I would kill for the Atlantic, but I am paid to make girls panic while I sing.
Please know we do this cause we care and not for the thrill
My sober straight face gets you out of your clothes
I almost feel sorry for what I'm gonna do
I've got desperate desires and unadimrable plans
h, my tongue's the only muscle in my body that works harder than my heart
yeah i could go on but whatever everybody knows them so well, it's just cool to single out the best ones :)
I'm so envious of Jesse's talent

Yeah, there's another really chilled out one, I think it's "Talk To You." I want a voice like Talib Kweli.

I "search function plz'd" Deja Entendu and went to the last page of the results. I wanted to say my away message realization. Greg and MaybeOneDay are the only people who still post regularly here from back then that I saw.

Yeah, Shock Body was the first Talib Kweli song I heard, off of Derek's Hip-Hop mix. I thought I disliked Hip-Hop but then really got into Common, and liked a lot of stuff off of Derek's mix.
I've only really been getting into Hip-Hop since the start of the year. I bought RBG by Dead Prez the other day as well, it's OK, nothing amazing though.

If you haven't listened to it already, check out Train of Thought by Reflection Eternal. It's Kweli and Hi Tek. Great album.
