This one's about my mom's year-long struggle with lung cancer, and her eventual death and how it affected my life. It was from cigarettes, by the way, which is a large part of why I choose not to do drugs.
Normalcy:
Normalcy’s a rarity,
Along with any clarity.
You live your life from day to day,
As months and years both pass away.
Your head seems like it's always down,
And it bares a chiseled frown.
They say time heals all wounds,
Yeah, well they spoke too soon,
Beause the depth of this breach,
Is past the hour hand’s reach.
A painted smile, oh so vile.
You can’t let go, you’ll never know.
They came too slow, she left too soon.
The sun is gone, replaced with moon.
You’ve lost your grip on what was there,
And you’re falling through an endless air.
Your heart’s been crushed,
Your soul’s been sold.
A feint blood rush,
A burst of cold.
You need a hand,
Look too the sun.
Bare wasteland,
Where to run?
A painted smile, oh so vile.
You can’t let go, you’ll never know.
They came too slow, she left too soon.
The sun is gone, replaced with moon.
The curtains drop,
Screen fades to black,
Can’t make it stop,
You want her back.
Death has a face,
With glaring eyes,
In you it placed,
The question "Why?".
Another crow,
Just passes by.
You do not know,
As you sigh,
"If there’s a God,
Why did she die?"
