i just moved into the dorms for college..i'm usually an understanding person of others opinions but this girl is really rude. a very big black girl and she turns my music off constantly to turn on 50 cent or JA rule and stuff, she eats my food so on.....why they stuck us together i dont know? i am going to go insane. tried to change room mates but it wont happen now! what should i do :confused:

Talk it over with her, tell her you live there too and try to make some deals on what goes on. one night of punk, one of rap something like that

about food, stop buying it or lock it up in your desk or closet.

if talking it out doesnt work the best bet is to break the girls spirit, cause the first one to break is the one to leave. Every small battle is never over til you win.

I would not stand for her turning off my music. The sound of rap makes me cringe. Maybe you could try to switch rooms, tell them your situation. They might have pitty on you.

well thing is i did try..they told me if i wanted that i have to write up a contract with my roomie and if anyone broke it we'd have to go up to a jury and the person who broke it would get punished. if no one breaks the contract then we both still have to be here. its a load of shit if you ask me

That sucks! I would try to work something out with her. Tell her that the world does not revolve around her and she needs to respect you. I have no tolerance for people like that.

I think you feel intimidated by her, if so then it probably shows which explains why she's taking advantage of you. Definately put your foot down and have a serious talk. oh and sharing food never works out just don't buy any

first off - one word: headphones.
i lived in a triple last year with a girl who listened to only techno, and another who listened to chinese music. talk about a savior.

i got lucky this year, i live in a suite with three other girls, and my roommate happens to be a great friend i met on my floor last year (who i knew i could handle living with because i hid out from my last roommates in her room as much as possible) and two freshmen girls who are extremely cool.

second, the food situation.. if it's a granola bar here and there, a handful chips, a bowl of cereal, or an occasional sandwich.. let it go. but if she's full out eating through your refridgerator, tell her straight up you pay for that food, so the least she could do is respect the fact it's yours and at least ask you before she eats it. otherwise, you're gonna get to the point where you can't take it anymore and the littlest thing will set you off. besides, if you talk to her and let her know you're not going to deal with her bullshit, she'll respect that.

yeah if i were you, i would try and compromise with her and ask if you could like each have your own time to listen to your music.. like at one time, she can listen to hers loud and you can slap on some headphones, and visa versa.

about the food situation, you should either tell her to back off your food, or just eat her food! lol.. you could try locking it up like others have said, or just try to see if she'll pay for what she eats of yours.

I would be scared of her too! Try to be civil and nice, but you do need to confront her. There's no way around it. If she gets in your face or tries to start something, document it so you have proof that she is unreasonable to live with. Go ahead an write up a contract...when she violates it and eats your food or turns off your music then you'd have reason to get switched.

At my university, you can switch dorms without going through the system if you find another girl that is willing to switch with you. We have a intranet kinda thing where you can advertise for housing and stuff.

yeah you are at Tech arent you? I have friends there. Well your situation sux and so do dorms b/c i live in some too. Do you have like your own stereo or something? Does she have her own or do you each play your own music on your computers or something? Tell her not to touch your shit and that she needs to stay on her side of the room. Stand up to her! I would and it doesnt matter if she is a big black girl they're nothing!
