is it a good idea to put a mine right next to the worlds largest salmon fishery?

they say there's alot of gold and shit in the hills.....those hills are right above the most important salmon spawning grounds on earth.......is it a good idea to put the mine in?

i vote no as the mining industry has a pretty horrible record and the last industry to come into alaska with a track record of contamination that said it was safe fucked up on a massive scale.
