Yeh I just recently discovered the awesome world of emo/punk. But still very raw in knowing whats what and whos who. Few months ago I used to be that typical jock, running is mouth ect. I heard the new cd from Brand New.... it changed me. Got mah ears pierced... 3 tats... going for my lip piercing friday. I realized I should be who >I< i want to be. And dress and look how I feel like i want to. And not be worried about public opinions and being 'normal'.

Thus, im really into the emo/punk music. I listened to punk before, but pop punk sell outs like blink, NFG, sp, GC. Now i sorta see the real reasons why alot of people dont like them.

So im basically asking for references. To good emo/punk bands. I need to hear, and feel more music. I LOVE the brand new deja cd. It plays continuously in mah car. So any help with bands i should check out that ya'll norms here think id like would be appreciated.

BTW this site rocks. Glad i found it.

Hope to be a regular here.

thx..

I now hate you because you said "mah" and "tats".

Yes, be who you want to be, don't worry about anyone else. You're so punk! WOOOOOOOOO! You obviously don't care about what's normal because you just decided to go out and get some tattoo's and piercings after you got into a certain kind of music. You're the most original person I've ever met.

Please, enlighten me. How are Good Charlotte sell outs ? I absolutely despise that term. But i'd really enjoy to know how you came to that conclusion.

Is the definition of 'selling out' not "chaning the style of music in order to obtain a larger fan base". Yes, you know, I think it is. And maybe you're unfamiliar with GC and their history but really, they only have 2 albums. The first one, is exactly alike and just as "poppy" as the first one is. And didn't the first album, alike the second album, sell thousands of copies ? or even millions ? Again, yes. It did do exactly that. So really, Good Charlotte hasn't sold out at all. They've gotten more popular. But they haven't changed their music to achieve that. Still think their sell outs ? Think again.

So really, in conclusion, im going to cut it to you short and sweet. I don't like you. I'm not usually that fond of people who come on to an forum and talk all big about how they've suddenly discovered "real punk music" and now know who they want to be. If you didn't know who you wanted to be in the first place, you're an idiot. So please, do me a favour. And cut the bullshit. If you don't like those bands, thats perfectly fine. But please, don't strut around calling them sell outs unless you really know what your talking about. End of story.

Have a nice day.

You was right. I just listened to the first GC cd, and they sound just as gay and ignorant as the 2nd. So maybe they did'nt sell out. I used that term freely on them, not knowing. Sorry.

As for Blink, Scott the old drummer quit because Blink was changing with the fan base. Travis Barker only plays for the exposure and money. He slurred that on Letterman right b4 the release of TOYPAJ. Simple Plan, just way to popish. Especially their new 'hit' Perfect. Its like NSYNC with a guitar.

Maybe Simple Plan isnt even a sell out. But I know i used the term sell outs just because im not a fan, at all. My mistake. I'll admit it.

As for the cracker telling me to hang myself. Thanks. It's people like you that make this world the way it is. Based on a few comments. Cold, dying, and lonely. People need to stop lashing out, at basic strangers, when you have no idea.

If some of you prefer a lashing back version, here i go..

Maybe you should go tell your sister why all her bloody tampons are sitting in your mommys pantie drawer. Its your widdled dick and hand crafted beat off movements that make your dad wish he would have gone through with the abortions. Try pulling the stick out of your ass, and gagging yourself with it. Reach your cold dead hands up in the air, as if your sorry, and watch people like me make my shoe print on your deformed face as i laugh in joy. May God wrath you with the sharpest whip and burn you like your fellow ancestors. :D

There's your 'comeback' instead along with a civil reply.

I'm glad to see you've finally relieved GC are no more sell outs than any real punk band is. But as for the other 2 bands, here we go:

Firstly, since day one, Blink has been saying they want to take their band as far as possible and get all the chicks and make as much money as possible. So if they've been saying that since the beginning, right from day one, how does that make Blink another "sell out" band. They simply followed through on what they said they wanted/were going to do and succeeded. Scott did not quit the band because the changing of the fan base. I read in an interview exclusively where he told them "he just wasn't into the band anymore". Meaning, he had lost interest, so he left. So obviously, Blink had to find a new drummer. And who better than Travis Barker, the previous drummer of the Aquabats ? Good choice i'd say. Travis knew this band wanted to take things far and make money, so he joined, because those kind of things didn't matter to him. Now in all honesty, if mark and tom came up to you and asked you to join their band on drums, would you turn down that offer ? I think not. Travis is no more in the punk scene for the money than you are.

As for Simple Plan, well, basically the same goes for them as it did for GC. Some of the members of Simple Plan used to be in a band called Reset. A very good band at that. Their sound was slightly different than what you hear of Simple Plan now. They had the same vocalist and a few other members as well. But then, that band broke up, and out came Simple Plan, a band they started with a few of their close friends in Montreal. The first thing they ever released as Simple Plan was a 3 song demo featuring the songs "im just a kid", "worst day ever" and "my alien". Hey, now think for a second, don't all 3 of those songs appear on Simple Plans debut full length as well ? Yes, they do. So please, tell me, how does a band releasing an album, and only ONE album that really sets their style for them and shows what kind of music they're playing make them a sell out band ? Is it their fault the 12 year old girls around the world are having an orgasm over it ? No, its not. Sure, without a doubt I know they are amazed and happy about all their success, and wouldn't trade it for anything. But what your saying is because they have a large fan base made of the "pop-punk crowd". That makes them a bunch of sell outs.

Oh, and about the new Simple Plan single. It's a song written for one of the bands close friends dad, as if they were the friend and speaking about their dad. Hence a clip of the lyrics, "hey dad, look at me, think back and talk to me, did i grow up, according to plan". The songs about him telling his dad hes sorry he cant be perfect. If you had given it a chance at all, and understood it, you would've realized that. And if you already knew that, you're an idiot. With the topic of the song in mind, how would you like the song to sound ? Did you expect it to be a raging, crazy, hardcore metal song with constant screaming and loud guitars ? Think about what you're saying. You are a moron.

Now, please stop using the concept of selling out in your post. Nobody cares about who's sold out and who hasn't here. We're here for the music, not to listen to pre-pubescent boys like yourself, who have suddenly discovered the "real" world of punk rock. If you don't understand what a sell out is. Don't talk about it. You're only maker yourself look like a bigger idiot than you already are.

Tip Of The Day:

If you're a newbie, don't come here looking for a welcoming. The best way to become a part of these forums is just to start posting (good stuff, not nonsene shit) and blend yourself into the crowd. Eventually, you'll get noticed and maybe even gain some "popularity" here. If that's what your looking for, I'm not sure. None of any of that means anything to me at all, but some people want those kind of things. Now, you're especially not going to get a welcome now, because you pointed out the fact that you didn't get one to begin with.

What do you need a welcome for anyways? I mean, c'mon man. It's an internet forum. Do these kind of things really mean that much to you ? Anyways, you're alright. You seem like a good kid so you aren't in my bad books either.

Now, about the whole telling that kid to hang himself. That wasn't me, that was other people here. But really, that kid's an idiot and has no idea what-so-ever as to what he's talking about. If he can stop sounding like a preppy 14 year old kid who seems like he only joined the "punk" crowd, because it was the popular thing now, then he may get "accepted". He probably doesn't give a fuck what people here think of him or not. And that's a good thing. Neither should you.

Just lighten up a bit and have some fun here. Try to avoid making usless repetitive posts and most of all, be yourself. So now, i'm going to go against what I said above and say, Welcome to the forums. Enjoy. :)
