Choking on a Dream
Breathe in the polluted nights
Choke on the smoke and lies
The particles of dust infest
The minds and dreams of man
Exhale your visions and dreams
They have no place down here
Thoughts that hope for truth
Are bound and gagged just like -
The dreams we shared
The hopes we held
Have all been killed
Only our souls to bear
This is such a waste
And its just a taste
Of what is to come
Before we come undone
And die
Digest the fumes we are fed
They shape the days we live
The days and nights and the afterlife
All shaped by fire and flames
Now all we can breathe
Blackened hearts made of coal
We can’t resist even if we try
Are we even trying?
Would it be that bad?
To live somewhere
Where truth and lies
Do not change a thing?
The dreams we shared
Would be secondary
For we’d be free from the tyranny
We suffered for this death
