If you had a friend that was trying to get into punk, what 3 songs would you play to get him/her into it?

I would play:

1.Blink-182- Dammit
2.Nofx-HeroJuana
3.Blink-182-Carousel

EXACTLY! And since when did Blink-182 become punk Dragonblink? Well,Blink was punk before they turned pop-punk with enema of the state and toypaj. But they are turnin back punk, thats what it look like.

blink were once compared to NOFX during the cheshire days.. they were not pop punk they were fast punk which was amazing. It all fell apart after Scott left because Travis slowed them down..anyways..

Carousel is the greatest song of all time

the speed of a song has nothing to do about how punk it is. and just cuz they were compared to NOFX doesnt mean a thing, nofx are just as poppy at times.

since travis came it all fell apart? i dono but i think travis is probably the most talented and innovative musician in the band...let alone one of the better drummers on any scene today.
Scott played real simple fast punk, which was cool. but travis can not only play real fast simple punk (prolly faster), but he adds tons of little twists with lots of off time beats and fills which gives Blinks songs a bit more depth musically.

so because Nofx are poppy at times, would anyone call them pop punk?.. never.. blink w/ scott were not pop punk

and let me rephrase the fell apart... Travis slowed them down and made them WAY more poppy. Yea Scott wasnt as talented as Travis, but he never slowed the band down. Now all you hear from Blink are slow palm muted verses and melodic choruses, instead of stuff like Carousel and A New Hope.

Dont get me wrong I love blink from Buddha to TOYPAJ.. but its just not the same as it was when Scott was there.

i think nofx are poppunk at times yes. not always but they definately have hints of it. im not trying to act like the one whose trying to disagree with everything here, but i really beleive that.

nono, travis had nothing to do with that. Mark and Tom write the songs if im not mistaken and travis just lays down the drumwork on what hes given. Not only did the lyrics take a HUGE step back from the amaizng lyrics that were all over dude ranch, but the guitar riffs and everything became less intricate. Had they written the same songs with scott, the songs would have been really plain.
