The Bride Wore Black – iPWNED!
Record Label: None
Release Date: July 12, 2007
Who?
A Queens based band named The Bride Wore Black. It contains five individuals who produce beats similar to your Nintendo 64 video games and dancy club beats. They bring you iPWNED!
How is it?
iPWNED! The name of their debut EP sets the stage for the sound. Fun, upbeat, and at times boring music. For example, “Cross Your t's and Dot Your Lowercase j's” showcases the positives of iPWNED! – catchy songs, a fun, upbeat sound, and potential for club music. The songs’ lengths are fairly long. For an EP, 25 minutes is pretty lengthy. But, to my ears the whole EP sounds the same. The song patterns are so similar that at times I thought I was listening to the same song twice. The lyrics are very similar and depressing. Listening, it seems that every song at least mentions a girl in the lyrics. Either vengeance or love, the lyrics don’t change much. So this wasn’t my cup of tea, mainly because I don’t listen to power pop. But if you like power pop, you definitely should check out The Bride Wore Black’s iPWNED!
Valencia, PlayRadioPlay!, Bad News Bears, and Nintendo lovers.
