ok, i don't really know how to start this off Soooo i'll just break it down as simple as i can. Ok. So i just graduated highschool ( i'm 19.) and don't really know what i'm gonna do. I really messed up in highschool and barely graduated. It's been almost 3 months now since ive been out of highschool. I was recently working for a Roofing company to make some good cash. only problem was that it was really hard. And i only lasted about 2 months. It just wasn't cut out for me. I lasted about a little over a month with that job before i got fired. So now i'm deciding on what i wanna do.....Airforce , Navy , Army , Take college classes for fire science (fire fighting) ....i am really just kinda throwing things out there. I know, it is sad. but i really don't know where i'm headed in life and i feel like time is running out. I'm embarassed when i have to lie to people so they don't think i'm a loser because i'm not currently going to college like a lot of my friends are. Anyone have any ideas. i didn't really get that great of grades in highschool . the best i ever got was 2.5 which is good for me. anyone know of a cool place i should work at for money for now , and then what do you suggest as a career. .....??? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

many of the sailors here say that the navy sucks. so let the navy be a last resort type of thing.

well this may sound cheesy, but find whta you enjoy and just do it. If yer not cut out for college, then don't go. Have you tried motivational speaking? or writing? or art of some kind? You need to play to your strengths.

you don't have to go to college to do something with your life.. you just gotta get involved in something and go with it.

i don't know shit about any of the armed forces, so i'm not going to get into that.

but community colleges always are a good place to start.. they've got all kinds of programs to get into and advising to help people figure out what they want to get into... tech schools are good, too... they've got tons of programs to get into and you can get lots of jobs that way.. and they usually only take like 2 years to graduate.
and if you're willing to drop a ton of money, you can always look into something like full sail.. it's like a tech school for the entertainment industry and you graduate in a year. i knew a few people who went there who weren't into the whole college thing and they love it.

well this is what i have to say about this problem....granted that you arent in college you can still go, some people dont believe that they are cut out for college but all you have to do is apply yourself. As far as your gpa goes dont worry too much about it because that is a passing gpa and there are a whole bunch of people here at my college that have gpa's lower than that and most of them have brought their grades up and are doing better. It doesnt matter what the gpa is what matters is that you get that diploma or that degree. It doesnt matter if you had to struggle to do it. Yeah i have also heard that the navy sucks, and you dont want to go to the marines or the army, you should try the air force they give better educations out of all of the branches. Good luck!

I am in your exact boat right now with my life. I'm joining the U.S. Army in the spring and hoping it works out for the better. Maybe you should take a year off to "find yourself"?

who says you gotta go straight to college right after high school? you should take some time for yourself and find the one thing you love to do. if you do so, you won't have any problem going through college, or your career of choice, and you'll be happy doing what you love.

If roofing was too hard for you, I suggest you not waste your money for fire science.

I know exactly what you mean, I've never been a fan of school and aren't in college now like the rest of my friends and feel like a loser thats falling behind. I know that I want to study journalism, going through with it and I or at least i think so but haven't gotten to it cause I'm the ultimate procrastinator. I know how it sounds in my head but then I actually consider going through with it and find myself pushing it to the side and saying I'll do it later because I'm scared that I might change my mind. My actual dream is a little unrealistic so I've always told myself that I don't want to settle for something conventional but I don't even know how to go about pursuing my dream.

college is defiantly not for everyone it has actually fucked up my life really good especially when i think of all the friends i lost who apparently went to college to learn how to be assholes.
