Record Label: Unsigned
Release Date: August 19, 2007

Who?

Aux Sable Embers are a newly formed punk-pop band big on throat-scathing vocals and catchy hooks. A group this young shouldn’t be able to mesh like this. But what do I know? Perhaps more (read: way less) important than any of that, they are from the same rural Illinois town (Minooka) as my friend, Big Steve.

How Is It?

The local buzz surrounding this band is fierce. Songs from the Fall Apart EP have seen radio airtime, and copies of this record are flying out of their dirty merch dudes hands as quickly as they are pressed. I can see why. “Modern Poetry” features smashing drums and static-drenched guitars. “One Talented Liar” evolves into a solo party and occasionally sounds like a song Alkaline Trio might have written when they were 13. Fall Apart is understandably rough. And sure, the songs don’t feature a ton of differentiation, but these guys have a promising future ahead if they can keep their line-up stable. Whether these dudes move on to bigger dive bars or not is anybody's guess. However, for once, I'm choosing optimism.
