I like how ive been reading posts apon post about the movielife broke up but when johny cash died there was just alittle update about it no one really seamed to cared. Im left to wounder why you kids think so much of the movielife but not enough of johny cash? In 40 years everyone will be like the movie what, but theyll still know the name johny cash. I loved the movielife but i understand how they were just more than your average punk band but they wont be remembered in ten years. Whats your opinion on this?

I can respect the influence Johnny Cash had on people, but I personally could not stand him... so the movielife breaking up has had more of an impact on me. I was more upset that John Ritter died than Johnny Cash anyway.

same here
John Ritter was a sudden death
Johnny Cash was sadly on his last leg and it wasnt a shock when he died
I like the movielife and wish them all the best but,
Movielife was a fucking band, no one died, they just quit playing, they will most likely form other bands and make music or even reunite a few months down the line when they realize what they had and now miss. Real jobs suck compared to touring the country playing to kids who love your music.

Both The Movielife and John Ritter made me upset. The Movielife was one of my favorite bands. And I freakin loved John Ritter from The Dreamer of Oz: The L. Frank Baum Story, a TV movie about the writer of the Oz books.
As for Johnny Cash... meh. I'm not even familiar with his music. I hate the mentality that just because someone is universally considered a "great musician" that somehow I'm dumb for not being a fan. Not saying there's anything wrong with him or his music. I just never bothered to give him a listen, and that doesn't make me bad.

Well said. We lost a musical genious, but music is about influence, not just fun. Many of us here live and breathe music, by supporting it, playing it, or gaining inspiration through it. To do that, we must relate to it. I do think its possible to relate to Cash's music, when you're this young, but it's not as probable.

See "did drive-thru turn off the movie?" for a really good explanation. I'd agree with it.

well i know ive never really sat down and listened to johnny cash but i think the reason no one really posted about his death is because this an absolute punk website meaning its meant for punk music, not country. but i kno a lot of ppl were sad. my friend only has like 4 cd's and like 3 of them are johnny cash so he was sad
