george mason university - international commerce policy (top choice)
university of wisconsin madison - International Public Affairs
university of maryland baltimore county - economic policy analysis

overall i really want to go to gmu since the program is exactly what i want. wisc is my second choice and umbc would be higher up on the list but the school is less prestigious then the other two so i am hoping for the first two.

I'm looking at the following:

Yale, Harvard, UPenn, NYU, Standford, Villanova or Penn State graduate school.

I have a pretty good shot at getting into them with the grades I have now, and plus my dad teaches classes at Yale and Villanova. Penn State is high up because I can do a 5th year and have a grad degree by the time I'm 25 or so.

University of Strathclyde - Investigative Journalism
University of Glasgow - Media Management
University of Edinburgh - Digital Media and Culture
Glasgow Caledonian University - Journalism Studies

Have you looked at U of Chicago? That's probably the best economics school in the country.

Going to Europe to get a degree would rock though.

Villanova! Hell Yeah! I go there now (undergraduate)...not too shabby, though the kids around here are effing morons.

I'm looking forward to any school with a good arab/islamic studies program: Upenn, Harvard, NYU, UChicago, or maybe even abroad

Yep. I'd love to live abroad, but it's almost impossible to do (without the proper amount of years of experience, etc.), so I decided to switch gears and go for grad school there. I studied at the University of Strathclyde and my college has an agreement with them so they know tha the work I'm putting in is equal to what their students are doing, so hopefully it'll work out. I'm busting my ass now and I could get some good recommendations, so I just really hope everything goes my way. If it doesn't and I don't get in to any of the schools, I'd have to wait and gain at least 5 years experience as a journalist before I could get a special work permit to go and live there.

I'm looking into UPenn, McGill (Montreal), Rutgers, Dartmouth and UMass Boston, all for Clinical Psych. I really don't know that much at all about American schools (aside from Ivy League, of course) so I still need to do a bit of research.

i would kill for gwu...except i dont have the grades. my cum is lackluster to say the least (3.0) and so its a long shot already for gmu but i am banking on my internship and international experience to backdoor my way in. no way i could do that at gwu.

you'd be shocked. and besides if you get some work experience before you go to grad school then you could be fine. the more experience you have the less it matters about your gpa. have you looked into any think tanks or the imf lately.

I haven't decided if I want to go yet... but I looked at Columbia (in Chicago), NYU, Carnegie Mellon, and Fullsail all for music business related degrees. Right now I feel like it's a bit pointless to get a masters, but we'll see. I'm also having a hard time figuring out which programs will actually be useful and which ones will be a guarenteed waste of time.

I'll be applying for Public Policy/Nonprofit Management in '09:

University of Texas (Austin)- Johnson School of Public Affairs
Georgetown University- Public Policy Institute
New York University- Wagner School of Public Service
Columbia University- School of International and Public Affairs
American University- School of Public Affairs

But if I don't get in immediately after graduation, I'd love to teach English abroad for a year.

I have no idea yet. I'm going to get into the workforce first and find a company to pay for me to go. I'd really like to go to UPenn, because they're supposed to have a really good program. However, moving to Penn probably won't work so well, so I'll probably stay in Boston. I'd love to say Harvard, but I kinda doubt my chances of getting in.

I'm looking at Columbia, NYU, Yale, Harvard (yeah righttt), UPenn, UVA, Michigan, Stanford, Duke, Northwestern and UCLA for law schools. I really don't want to stay at LA for another 3 years though/ I need a change, preferrably NYC. I know I can rock that LSAT so I'm really just trying to boost my GPA. I'm considering doing the JD/MBA but that requires GMAT too. We'll see.

Taking a year off after graduation this spring. I need a break from school.

Wharton is top business school in the nation and it really really filters to Wall Street.

My major is Econ right now, so I've kind of changed it up since I posted this. I'll try for Finance or to further my degree in Econ.

I'm going to apply to (provided I don't take a sharp decline in grades within the next two years) NYU, UPenn, U of Chicago, Villanova (which I didn't realize but my dad was telling me that Nova is really starting to become very respected), Yale, Harvard and maybe Columbia.

Right now though, grad school is going to be put on the backburner until I find a realistic way to pay for it. I have no money after my undergrad finishes so I'll need to work/get hooked up from a company.

HIGH FIVE ECON MAJOR. Man, I'm so glad I'm done with that shit. I was so close to finishing my bizEcon but I gave up. Our management department is horrid. It's just all accounting which I have no interest in. I'd rather do marketing, actual management, finance or something international but we don't offer that. You should check out UCLA Anderson though. It's a great MBA school, at least name-wise. And we've got better sports than Nova :)

Good luck with econ though. It's such a dull major here.

Actually, it's funny you mention that. My dad told me the old Dean of Business at PSU moved to UCLA. It's some woman, the name escapes me. If I were going to move to the left coast, I'd check out UCLA, USC, UC Berkeley, Stanford, so on and so forth.

Oh yeah, I know what I'm getting myself into. Econ isn't exactly the coolest or most interesting major, but it's the area of my business courses in which I do best in. I know that when I get into my real major required classes it's going to get much harder, but I'll just need to work my nuts off.

Yeah, kill yourself with core classes before your senior year. I'm finished with my last econ this quarter and I'm taking a film class and 2 WAC (world arts and culture, joke athlete classes) to boost my gpa. Next quarter I'm looking at 3 film classes, possibly a fourth with Italian Film History, and some Ethnomusicology class. All the profs have like a difficulty rating of less than on BruinWalk so I'm set. Just breeze out your senior year, that's the key. You'll want to die your third year though. I took 3 quarters of 4 econ classes each. That was miserable.

Yeah I'm taking a few core classes next semester. I'm trying to have a generally easy senior year and I've been planning accordingly since I walked in so I'm pretty set. It's a hard major, harder than most people give credit for but I'm pretty decently smart so I'm not too worried.

I know I'm a little late on this one but don't go to fullsail. From talking with people that have gone there and people in the music business, that school is a joke and a waste of money.

If you want to work and go get your MBA, then Villanova has a top 15 part time MBA program, if you're interested still. Also, I think you said your dad taught there, which should cut down tuition and make acceptance a breeze.
