This past Tuesday, a band called The Network released their debut album. The record, entitled Money Money 2020, was released on Adeline Records, which is owned by Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day. What’s suspicious about all this is the singer of The Network sounds an awful lot like Armstrong himself. And this has prompted some major rumours.

The word out there is that apparently Green Day approached their label to release the album. When the label rejected it, the band apparently decided to put it out themselves. Of course, this is all speculation. However, The Network has taken great pains to ensure that their identities remain secret. The band’s bio reads, "They are extremely mysterious and never show their faces to humans or cameras. The members hail from all corners of the world and were brought together by an ancient prophecy, which predicted their rise to world power and eventually their demise."

The band members go by such pseudonyms as Fink, Van Gough, The Snoo, Captain Underpants and Z (all with elaborate back-stories). Neither Green Day’s label or Adeline have owned up to anything, but through an intense investigation, the following evidence has been compiled that may suggest that The Network and Green Day are one and the same:

1. While it’s true that Fink’s voice is eerily similar to Armstrong, there are a few other tidbits that link the two men. Green Day released a song called "Ballad Of Wilhelm Fink" on the compilation Short Songs For Short People. Apparently, many a Green Day fan has gone searching for info on this Wilhelm Fink with no luck.

2. Armstrong is a part of the punk super-group Pinhead Gunpowder. On the EP Shoot The Moon, Armstrong sings a song called "27" — which is credited as being written by Wilhelm Fink. Rumour has it that Armstrong has also used the name Fink in different magazines.

3. The Networks’ bio contains some clues. It mentions that Fink is an Aquarius… So is Armstrong.

4. It also says that member Van Gough is vegan — so is Mike from Green Day.

5. Green Day’s Tre Cool used to be in a band called The Lookouts. He was credited in the bands liner notes as Captain Underpants.

Thanks go out to all the Green Day geeks out there with too much time and too much knowledge about the band that aided in this search. For your sake, I hope this mystery is resolved soon.
