Classic rock at its peak. It would be hard to find anybody who hasnt heard at least one of their songs.
some classic jams: Bad Moon Rising, Down on The Corner, Fortunate Son.
this is all ive been listening to all day.

I always spin them at work. My manager is always pushing classic rock and I don't mind it a bit. I'll throw in some Who and Beach Boys as well.

For sure dude. I just work at a cd/dvd store...our player fits 5 cds. We get 3 rocks, and 2 "others", but those can't be rap. So I usually will take 2 classic rocks and something new, maybe jackson 5, and then bb king.

john fogerty, what a legend. love this band, their rootsy rock & roll mixed with tinges of country, r&b & rockabilly. although to me (& it may just be me) they're a band that wrote great songs, not great albums. don't get me wrong, they've crafted some quality albums, but there's always a few real stinkers on each

true, that's kind of unfortunate. the singles are great though.

bumping this because I rediscovered CCR today. it's a shame they get lumped in with Lynyrd Skynyrd, as they are far better.

CCR is my most hated classic rock jam. My parents got me into Led Zeppelin pretty easily with In My Time of Dieing, then thinking that CCR is anything like that, they tried to buy me an album. I couldn't stand it. I have no idea why.

CCR without Fogerty is sad. but he's got some pretty good solo stuff.
Fortunate Son was probably the first "rock and roll" song I ever heard/got into my life. I remember we had this encyclopedia program on our computer back when I was like, 6 or something. anyway, it had a few "sample clips" from different musical artists in the music section and it had "Fortunate Son" on there and I remember listening to it and being like "wow, this is pretty fucking cool." haha.

Being morally opposed to compilations, I'll reccomend the excellent Cosmo's Factory and the almost as awesome Willy and the Poor Boys. If you go the compilations route, you usually miss great stuff like "Ramble Tamble" and "As Long As I Can See the Light."

Listening to Bayou Country for the first time and it's insane how much of a hot streak pretty much their entire career was. "Bootleg" is a song I never really caught the genius of out of context.

Yeah I don't think there really is one, haha. If I had to pick though I'd probably say Cosmo's Factory. Maybe Willie and the Poor Boys. Though I tend to find myself listening to their greatest hits collection more than the actual albums.

My friend had Cosmo's Factory on vinyl and one summer it made up about half of my backyard grilling memories. That one takes it. Although I love Green River and Bayou Country as well. Tough question.

Great time of year to bust these guys out (which I know has been said like 50 times throughout the course of this thread, but it's true!). I think Green River just edges out Cosmo's for me, if only because "Lodi" is probably my favorite song of theirs.

I just have a weird attraction to songs about damned people stuck in small towns. Haha. Hence the Waits/Springsteen obsession. "Up Around the Bend" definitely has one of, if not the most badass main guitar riff(s) in their catalog though.
On another note, I'd have loved to see this band at Woodstock. Seems like the perfect venue for them.

It also has some of the best harmonies in their catalog on the chorus. I love the dichotomy between that searing riff/rock verse and those pristine choruses.

Yeah Fogerty is a concise bastard. It's what makes a lot of their stuff so endlessly replayable. Like, how can you not want to hit repeat the second "Travelin' Band" ends.

It's the sole complaint I have with most of their songs. Haha. Although it does kind of make the extended "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" jam on Cosmo's that much more awesome.
