whats with long island

Im from long island, and what is with the music scene there, like so many good bands are out of there, why is that? i moved a while ago to colorado and im trying to start a band, should i come back to long island to do that or somethin?

my old english kinda killed seinfeld for everyone because every sentence that came out of his mouth was a seinfeld qoute, but the one thing he really ruined for me was the movie 'the sandlot'. he managed to incorporate the sentence "Your killing me smalls!" into every conversation the class had. those words still haunt me today

As a person who lives in Westchester, New York...which is ten minutes outside NYC and ten minutes from Long Island, who's every bit of family also lives in Long Island and is frequently there...this is the reasons why so many great bands come out of LI.

1. There is something in the water.

2. You live just outside the city, so therefore you are unimportant and boring. You start a band.

3. There is very little to do in Long Island, see above.

4. Everyone in Long Island has a septic tank. Somebody's must be leaking and contaminating everyone to have incredible music abilities.

5. A few bands from Long Island got famous. Therefore, everyone looks to Long Island for the latest bands instead of elsewhere. Thus, more bands are given chances just because of Long Island then another band from somewhere else that is just as good.

6. John Nolan and Jesse Lacey are god. And inspire everyone in Long Island to be like them. END OF STORY.

yea, long island is amazing. i truely enjoy number 6. but all long siland bands fucking kick ass ie. movielife (rip) reunion show, straylight run (is that considered a li band), etc.

I'll say its boring as fuck around here. Jeez, try to find something to do with your girlfriend on a friday night.....i always end up at the harbor. And we do have good bands though, we just have a lot of motivation around here.

You must definately mean Westchester with the pink cell phones. Everyone has a nextel, and whenever I hear that beep noise I want to suffocate someone. And everyone I know talks about what car they're getting for their birthday this year.

Oh, and back to Long Island being boring. Westchester is exactly the same way. We have A. New Roc; which is a movie theatre and a bowling alley...that has cops there every night patroling because there's always a fight, muggings, etc. or B. Central Ave; which extends from White Plains down to Central Park. It's basically a huge strip mall with cheesy stores like Pier 1 Imports, party stores, ten thousand chinese buffets, and a handful of movie theatres. And, you're likely to get into a fight there too. And if you ever go to any of these places you'll see atleast fifteen people you know because there's no where else to go.

I say that because our out of state tuition is high for a standard issue state University. They really do drive around town in their beamers and benz's with NY tags, talking on their pink cell phones, wearing the skankiest shit I've ever seen. I wish my daddy would pay my rent, by me a car, get my nails done, get my hair highlighted, pay my bills, and buy me new titties.
