My old faithfuls are bands like Armor For Sleep, Anberlin, Emery, Underoath, BoysNightOut....I can't really think of any other bands that have been around for a while that are still around and I've completely lost touch with the NEW music that's out there. In my mind, "the scene" has become so saturated with shitty bands that are passed off as being good because they are commercially marketable. Any recommendations of bands that you really think deserve a listen? The only catch is that their discs have to be fairly easy to get a hold of (IE: purchasable at Best Buy, or well known online stores.) Thanks for the help in advance.

i used to listen to all that stuff, but i started listening to a lot more instrumental stuff like the album leaf, explosions in the sky, etc. i agree with "the scene" being overly saturated, as well. you can tell some of these newer bands are just gimmicks, copying the sound of a hundred other bands to make it big really quick. it's similar to what happened with hair metal. once a couple bands got big, there was a shitload of other hair metal bands that wanted to hop on the bandwagon. it's mad lame.
anyway though, if you don't already have these cds, i'd recommend: a static lullaby's "a static lullaby", as cities burn "son, i loved you at your darkest", darkest hour "deliver us", don't look down "the fear in love", number one gun "promises for the imperfect", spoken "last chance to breathe", & there for tomorrow "pages".

obviously, check them out on myspace if you feel like it...hopefully you find something good in there.

Nice....I have been following Funeral for a Friend for a while. I have the album with the bullets on the cover (it's name escapes me at the moment) and I have Casually Dressed & In Deep Conversation and Hours....I haven't heard the new one yet though. Rookie of the Year I have heard of but I have not listened to. I will check out some of your recommendations. Thanks a lot.
