Fred's (Ex-TBS and Breaking Pangea) now full time solo project. Named this after an online poll, apparently. So, I'm really liking this stuff. Is all he's released Heading Back East, Choke Demo, and If I Surrender?

Lesson: bands should not choose their names from online poll results.

The album art will probably be the worst part about it.

AP_Punk

TheOtherAndrew
10/07/07, 12:21 AM
He should call himself Straylight Run 2

Genuma
10/07/07, 12:22 AM
I wanna be Straylight Run 4.

Genuma
10/07/07, 12:23 AM

TheOtherAndrew

Or Taking Back Fred

Genuma

If he did John Nolan would try to kick his ass.

And I would be honored.

Genuma
10/07/07, 12:28 AM
He always came across as weak to me. But that would be an honor. I wonder if he'd give you a bumper sticker : "John Nolan Kicaked My ASS"

AP_Punk

call me a TBS n00b, but was Fred the lead singer/writer for them?

Genuma
10/07/07, 12:22 PM
Nah. That's Adam. Fred was John Nolan's replacement. He did backing vocals of sorts.

It wasn't as surprising as Nolan leaving (which did cause 10,000 threads).

10/07/07, 11:48 PM
Yeah, same. I may try to go anyway, though...

Genuma
10/07/07, 11:58 PM
That'll be sweet. What do you think he'll play? TBS and BP stuff? Or maybe he plays more of his Bend To Break songs live.

Genuma
10/08/07, 02:48 PM
Tons of banners here for it lately.

hairsprayqueen
10/08/07, 02:50 PM
i know... it's weird...

Genuma
10/08/07, 02:50 PM
Not really. AP has always supported TBS so it maks sense they'd support TCF.

hairsprayqueen
10/08/07, 02:52 PM
true... but it's weird (for me still) i'm still getting used to it.

Genuma

It's weird seeing his face. It's peeking out at you kind of. Creepy.

hairsprayqueen
10/08/07, 02:56 PM
totally...i'm confused though.. i mean i dont know much about recording/making a record, but i thought it usually takes a while for a band to put one out. if he left TBS around september, how did he have time to put out a record?

Genuma
10/08/07, 02:57 PM
He's had thias going for quite a bit of time now. Maybe a year even. He only had demos up before though. This was his side project before.

hairsprayqueen
10/08/07, 02:58 PM
ooooh.. okay, thanks for clearing that up for me. didnt know that.

Genuma

Wyatt!!!
10/31/07, 07:01 AM
It was streaming on his myspace, I liked it for the most part.
As for most albums, the first 5 or so songs were good. It then slowed down got acoustic and thn picked up again.

Id reccommed it, someone described it as WYWTB b-sides, which I agree with.

Genuma
11/10/07, 01:49 PM
Blump.

11/10/07, 08:39 PM
Fred is amazing! I do not know how TBS will survive without him, they will need a great new guitar/vocalist. I am seeing him with Angels and Airwaves.

Him with Angels and Airwaves? What the fuck?

Really dull stuff in my opinion.

I'm not sure what's worse, this or The Almost.

Genuma

Probably this. The Almost has a catchy song at least.

I like Fred. He has some good songs, but you can definitely tell there's something missing... Same type of thing with Ace right now. I know they're both capable of so much more.

People say that TBS is missing something with Fred gone. Ironic.

Well TBS is missing something because they just touch each other and record it and call it "New Again," but yes I did enjoy the band's energy and such a lot more with Fred and even John. Same with Ace. I love his new CD, but have no problem admitting that there's just a different feel to it than the Early November's releases had, even though his songs are still from the heart.

Ironically enough, I'm lumping these two together because I saw them both in concert a couple months ago and instead of having their bands play with them, they just sat on a stool and played solo acoustic sets. That was the Craig Owens tour. Craig sucked butt, and especially in Utah (Ace's favorite place to play) nobody gave a crap about him. So after Fred played his set and Ace was done, everybody was pretty much done and the headliner hadn't even played yet.

Fred and Ace were just chilling back at the merch stand so we just talked to them for a while. Took pictures. Signed autographs on CDs and such. And then I talked with Jenn Enders for a while and she totally remembered my friend and I from a concert the year before. Turns out she's pregnant now and expecting the child at the end of this year! Way happy for her and Arthur, so I'm relatively certain that they'll take some time off after the summer BBQ tour they're doing to spend time as a family.

Anyway, not really sure why I typed all that. Regardless of the fact that Fred's musical stylings have changed and he's trying to find himself again, he's still a good guy. A blast to watch. He's genuine and you can't help but have respect for the guy. There's a different feeling talking to him and seeing him play then when I watch interviews and concert footage of TBS now. They seem weird to me, shady, too concerned with drama and band politics then actually making good music anymore. More concerned with their image. Fred doesn't give a crap. To me, it seems like the music is more important. That's why he didn't just give up when he left TBS. He's still doing his own thing because he loves doing it. It's not all about the money and image. And I respect him for that, even though I feel that his album is technically less superior than the stuff he previously recorded in the band.

Although, his new acoustic CD is great IMO. A few songs from Bend to Break, and a couple other ones. Sounds just like his concert did. And I don't cringe when I hear him sing like I do when I imagine Adam singing through his teeth on their new album.

I'm going to see Craig Owens with the Silent Years on Sunday. i have really high expectations, but you seemed not to have liked Craig.
I seen Fred at warped tour last year with his full band and i thought he was amazing. I also met him after at his merch tent and he was such a sweetheart
