I don't know if the tour started yet but does anyone know of what songs Motion City Soundtrack will be playing?
Any Ideas?

The tour starts on 10/17. I have no idea what they'll play though. Lol

My guess is they'll play 7-8 new song, most of Commit this to Memory, and like 4 songs from I Am the Movie because they played alot of those songs over the summer.

Well, if it helps, they're doing their UK tour at the moment, and their setlist from London last Friday was:
1. Fell In Love Without You
2. Capital H
3. Make Out Kids
4. Time Turn Fragile
5. It Had To Be You
6. Better Open the Door
7. This is for Real
8. Modern Chemistry
9. My Favourite Accident
10. Point of Extinction
11. Attractive Today
12. LGFUAD
13. Antonia
14. Broken Heart
15. Red Dress
16. Hold Me Down
17. Everything is Alright
-----
18. Back to the Beat
19. Future Freaks Me Out
It's been pretty much the same the whole tour. Red Dress hasn't always been played, and sometimes Throwdown's been in the set... and I don't think Back to the Beat has been played anywhere else except London.

I've been in this thread now I think three times and didn't realize that they spelled it "Amberlin" until you said that. Lol.
Oh, wow! I'll be apart of the first part of the tour. Looks like I will be the first one to interview them on their tour since I have three press passes to the show :).
Was looking for a set list just to get a preview, but damn... first show of the tour, hope everything goes great.

Would like to get a hold of Anberlin, Mae and Metro Station's set lists though as well if anyone has got them.
I went... Metro's was horrible -- I would have liked to put them on mute.
Anberlin:
1 - A Whisper & A Clamour
2 - Adelaide
3 - A Day Late
4 - Paperthin Hymn
5 - Hello Alone
6 - Dismantle. Repair
7 - Godspeed
Hello Alone may have been 3rd or 5th, I forget if it was before or after their Never Take Friendship Personal tracks.
For Mae, they didn't play the Everglow. They did play Suspension, Summertime, Someone Else's Arms, Sometimes I Can't Make It Alone, Brink of Disaster, Crazy 8's and maybe another song or two.
Didn't like Mae without Rob and Mark though. It's not the same. I miss that big bald head shining haha.

Yep. I'm a little surprised they're playing it... but yet again, when they went on their headlining tour last year with The Matches, The Format and Men Women and Children, they opened their set with part of Invisible Monsters. Which was great.
The set list isn't bad, obviously they'll be playing a lot from Even If It Kills Me, but I can't believe they aren't playing Hold Me Down. I'll be at the 11/10 show. Hoping for Throwdown. :)

Yeeah. Maybe I'll see you there!
Oh man, that Stone Pony show. The guys were walking around, and when the doors open, Matt walked by and I said hey and started talking to him. So I said "So, are you guys playing Throwdown tonight?" and he was like "I don't know, we already got a request. If we have time we'll play it." The request was A-Ok. I noticed during the encore, Matt went over to Justin and whispered something in his ear, then Justin just subtly shook his head and I believe they went into Resolution, I think. At that point, I was thinking maybe Matt asked Justin about Throwdown. Probably not, but still, it was worth a shot.
I might be getting to the Starland show really early, at noon or one. If I see any of the guys, I'm going to request it, since they usually play requests. I mean, I remember Atticus had a song request thing on myspace for MCS on Warped Tour '06 and just about everyone who did the requests all put down Throwdown.

Yeah, originally I thought it was Resolution, and I was like "no, I can't remember, maybe Hangman" so I edited my post for Hangman, and then I remembered it was Resolution and re-edited my post, and I noticed you replied haha.
Hahah Josh was so funny after that show. I saw him at the side by the bar, with the tiled floor, and we were talking about Asbury Park and how the area was horrible. Then when we were saying goodbye he told us to be careful and not to get shot, mugged, or shot up with drugs, or something to that effect. He's awesome.

I went to this. Plymouth Rock was good. They messed up 2x and forgot some words in it tho...
Meh, that's too bad about Metro Station. I really dig their album. Do you not like their music at all or are they pretty painful to watch live?
They suck live -- the drummer is boring, the two singers do a lot of the same hand motions and try to be funny. Their lyrics and song structure come off as adolescent. Their voices are grating on the ear in a bad way (I love Billy Talent if that helps give you a sense of how grating I can accept in terms of quality).
They are like your little brother playing music when all you want to do is smash his guitar so he never attempts to join a band again.
About Anberlin: I wish they played Unwinding Cable Car too... girlfriend was a little upset they didn't play her favorite song.
Once again, I'll repeat this: Mae isn't the same.
I saw Metro Station on their last tour. Even if you like them, they suck live.
And Mae being main support is garbage. That Anberlin set is really short, and really weak. Especially when their show at Bumbershoot was so good (Dance Dance Christa Paffagan in the middle of the set!?! Yes please!)

I'm sure no one has any idea since it's awhile from now, but does anyone know what Anberlin's going to be up to after this tour? Maybe their own headlining? Everyone needs to make it their mission to find out.
If they aren't headlining their own tour right away, they'll probably be headlining the T&N tour.
Yeah. No.
Ignore. Anberlin would have been a great co-headliner. But with Motion having a more current CD, I can see why they should/would get all the headlining stops. Anberlin, with their new record contract, could end up being bigger than Motion.

Of all the songs to yell out for, why that one? Granted, yes, they haven't been playing it this tour, but why not request something they don't play as often? Throwdown, Back To The Beat, Truth Hits Everybody, Indoor Living, etc. etc.

I'm sure no one has any idea since it's awhile from now, but does anyone know what Anberlin's going to be up to after this tour? Maybe their own headlining? Everyone needs to make it their mission to find out.
They're not touring for a while after this tour. I could be wrong, but I believe they're going back to the studio to work on a release of some sort for their new label.
Indoor Living is my favorite song from I Am the Movie. I only heard them play it once, at Epitaph Tour '05. I think there's a better chance of them playing Throwdown over Indoor Living.
But oh man, I was so happy when they played Indoor Living at that show.
Great song. That's probably my third favorite song from I Am The Movie. I'd really love to hear Throwdown, but would be shocked if they played it. They didn't play it the last time I saw them before Even If It Kills Me came out, either.

What post(s) are you referring to?
LUCKY! Out of the handful of times I've seen them since '04 not once have they played it. Now I'm wishing I had taken the trip down to Lawrence, KS back in '05 for that Epitaph tour. I even had tickets for it and all, just not a reliable car...grrr
Yeah, when they started playing it I was in shock, and was really happy. Ever since then I haven't heard them play it. :( That sucks about having tickets and not being able to go--I know how it feels. I won tickets to see the TBS/JEW/The Format tour and couldn't get a ride (since it was on a school night, I didn't have a license, and it was almost an hour away) and I regret not being able to go every day. Then I won tickets to one of Thursday's holiday shows one year and couldn't get a ride to that either. I have horrible luck sometimes. :(
I'm going to the show tonight (literally) at Starland. Hopefully I'll be able to post a setlist after the show.

I thought about going to this. But if I went it would mostly be for Anberlin, and I don't know if it's worth it for a 7 song set.
I agree with everyone else, Anberlin should be at the least direct support. They deserve it.
Mae on record isn't horrible, but they put me to sleep live.

good show tonight. same setlist for mcs as previously posted.
after they came back out for the encore, they announced that tonights show at roseland ballroom in manhattan was "the biggest crowd they have ever had for a headlining show." pretty cool.
random sidebar: some dude in the way back was being arrested, and resisted for a solid 20 minutes, fighting off cops like crazy...he ended up getting tazered and taken off in a gurney. very strange to see that type of thing happening at an MCS show.

They were chanting for A-Ok? I didn't hear that, I only heard my friend, sister and I scream for Throwdown hahaha. I think they played A-Ok at Stone Pony as a request in '06.
Wait, which pit? The one on the right side (our right, so stage left)? I stood off to the right side on the riser by the counter for the nonalcoholic bar, and was near one of the pits. I didn't see two 14 year olds in the pit though. I love that they stopped during those two songs when kids got hurt. They're such an amazing live band with such great stage presence. I met Justin after the show and thanked him for Throwdown. This is the first time I've seen Throwdown be played in a club setting instead of just at Warped Tour.
But oh man, when they started playing Cambridge, I was more shocked then when they played Throwdown.

i did like after the kids were yelling a ok and other things justin said "do you want to come up here and ply it? were in the band... so were going to play what we want"

Oh, I wasn't near the sound mixer--I was further up. I'm glad I didn't see the obnoxious girls, otherwise I would have probably wanted to do something about it.
When he said they hadn't played the song in a few years, I was hoping for Indoor Living because I adore that song, but Cambridge did the trick. I'm still in shock.

Tonight's set was insane. I was also hoping for Indoor Living when he said "We haven't played this song in years," but Cambridge was just as awesome. They said that the Jersey crowd was one of the loudest on this whole tour, so I guess that's why we got Cambridge =D
They were about to go into Future, when me and some other kids started the Throwdown chant up front. They were hesitant at first, but they did it anyway, which kicked ass. We definately got treated well.

One of the best shows I've been to. Three of my favorite bands in one show.
When Mae played Embers and Envelopes I was so happy. I saw them over the summer and they didn't play it, which shocked me.
I haven't been able to listen to Anberlin's new CD a lot yet, so when they played The Feel Good Drag first I was so happy. Anberlin's set was absolutely incredible still.
I didn't really care for Metro Station; they didn't impress me much. Didn't they say some song was called Disco or something? And that single that was on iTunes for the "single of the week" or something. Shake It, right?
Ticketmaster says the show in Detroit is at 5 next week. Is that doors? Or first band? Im trying to decide if i should get tickets, I might not be home from college in time.
Thanks for the help!!
Oh yeah, and I havent read all of this thread, but i noticed that people were talking about how they'd never seen throwdown or back to the beat. They played them BOTH in Detroit this summer. But only because Tony got a little dehydrated and almost passed out. It was tits.

It's just because Jersey's awesome I suppose... haha.
I love hearing Throwdown live. The only reason they played it was because Justin messed up an entire chorus or verse (i completely forgot) of Broken Heart and a bunch of people (including myself) were screaming for Throwdown, so Justin felt bad he messed up Broken Heart so they played it. You never know if they'll play it at your show... they usually take requests. :)

I mean i'm happy with their set list without it, i've seen them 4 or 5 times, but i'm just curious..
as far as i know, they have a few times, but that was a while ago (probably when the policia cd came out)

Review from the Toronto Show yesterday.
Metro Station was a band I had never heard of before the show. They were surpirisingly good and very catchy. They reminded me of All Time Low
Anberlin was next. The real reason I attended, it seemed like most of the crowd had come for Anberlin, and half the people knew every word to all the songs. They rocked the house and put on an unbelievable live show. The crowd was really into it, and the band played some of their greatest songs. They opened with The Feel Good Drag and closed with Godspeed, two of the best songs from their collection.
After Anberlin, me and my frriends were exhausted, so we took a break at the back of the venue while Mae played. From what I heard of them, Mae did not really have any crowd interaction and the lead singer had nothing compared to Anberlin's in his ability to get the fans into the show.
We made our way back to the front for Motion City Soundtrack, and they played a great set. They were hilarious, and the lead singer wore every thing that was thrown on stage by fans. The band started a bottle cap war on stage, and there were many hilarious moments. The bands was however very safety conscience and when someone at the front was injured they stopped playing, waited until the fan was helped off, then started right where they left off. They opened with Fell in Love Without You, and closed their encore with a Future Freaks Me Out. Other highlights include Capital H and the rocking hit Everything is Alright. I was also surprised to as how the Even If It Kills Me songs were live. I thought it was their weakest album of the 3, although it was very good, and the songs were great live, especially Broken Heart and It Had To Be You.
Overall this show was incredible. I will definately see MCS again, and Anberlin has become my favorite band. I am dumbfounded as to why Mae has a longer set than Anberlin, and whoever made that decision does not know that Anberlin attracts a great amount of fans. Still, I would reccomend this tour to anybody with even a remote interest in MCS and Anberlin.

That's so odd - I love all of the bands I went to see, save for metro station, and it went as follows. Anberlin - absolutely atrocious, MAE - started out awful with new stuff, but got better as the set progressed (I've seen them 5 times), but still unsatisfactory. MCS was outstanding - completely in an entirely different league than the other bands present.

I don't know if its strictly a fan boy thing, but poor Stephen couldn't hit one note - he strained himself all night as he tried to sing over the music that was often too loud for his abilities. All his cutesy dance moves and crowd interactions proved far too much for his vocal prowess as well. I love the band to death, but they are clearly a studio band.

mcs was amazing! i made a sign for 'back to the beat' and i didn't think they were going to play it, but at the start of the encore justin came out with his guitar by himself and pointed to my sign and said "is this for you?" and i said yes then he said "it's been a while since i've played this, so sorry if i mess up. actually i'm just gonna blame it on you if i mess up." then he started playing and sang the first few words then stopped and said he forgot the words and made me sing a few. then he finished the song. it was really cool.

I like Anberlin better live than in the studio, actually. They're a lot of fun live, I think. It's just that they usually have problems with him singing under the band until they adjust some things about 3-4 songs into the set. Sometimes it's just impossible to hear him, though. This is the exact same setlist for every band for the anaheim show (12/3) except:
Anberlin:
1. Never take friendship personal
2. Hello Alone
edit: my friend reminded me that they also played "Paperthin Hymn" but i don't remember when.
Mae:
"Home" instead of "Crazy 8's"
Home was an unplanned setlist change.
on another note
Motion City Soundtrack is AMAZING live. they put on an all around great show, and i encourage everyone to see them. and ditto on that last paragraph.
why is Mae playing mostly new songs, "Home" and "Reflections" are the only 2 songs I like a lot off of their new album, also does Anberlin play ANYTHING off of Blackmarket, and my favorite song off of "I Am The Movie" is "Mary Without Sound" and it sucks because I doubt they're going to play it when I go to this show tomorrow night

fairly sure i talked to you for a short period of time about them playing a 3 song encore(or what i was saying is that I really don't count Attractive Today as a full song and so it would really only be 2 1/2 song encore). Either way was dissapointed to see you walk out half way through Future Freaks Me Out.
It was a really good show but Justin reeeaaally needs to keep it to the music. He stopped and read signs and talked between every song and when i was in the pit it was just way too hot to deal with. Metro Station was medeocre, Anberlin Rocked, Mae chilled, and MCS was as good as they were the last time they were in town, which would make them good enough for me.
fairly sure i talked to you for a short period of time about them playing a 3 song encore(or what i was saying is that I really don't count Attractive Today as a full song and so it would really only be 2 1/2 song encore). Either way was dissapointed to see you walk out half way through Future Freaks Me Out.

yea, lol, how the hell did you know that was me? me and my friend Ross were the 2 sitting there right in front of you, and I was up in the front for Anberlin and Mae which was a blast and Ive heard Metro Station's album and they literally played my least favorite songs in order and they ended with the only song I like a lot by them ("Control"), but yea it was a good show
but yea we stayed for all of future freaks me out, we just got closer to the door so that we could beat the rush outside and since I knew the show was over then it wasn't a big deal, what's your name?

I went to tonight's show as well. First, for anyone going to this show between now and Christmas, definitely think about bringing a toy to see Mae's acoustic set before the show. Not only do you get a really cool little show, but it's also for a great cause- they donate all the toys to Toys for Tots. They said they just dropped off about 200-250 (I think) toys in SLC, and they're hoping to have about the same amount again by the end.
The acoustic show tonight actually almost didn't happen- the people at the ticket office told us something about Mae not setting it up with them in time, but my friends and I talked to a security guard to see if he could give our toys to Mae anyways since we meant for them to be donated anyways, and after a few other people showed up, he told us the show was happening. I'm guessing that Mae finally just said they were doing it no matter what, or something on those lines, but whatever happened, it was really cool. About 10 of us just sat around in a back room with the guitarists and drummer, talked with them and they played a few songs we requested. They seemed like really great guys, and I definitely encourage everybody to consider helping them out with this toy drive.
Then, for the rest of the show, Metro Station was alright- not bad, but I just couldn't really get into them. I wasn't able to make it onto the floor for Anberlin, which was a huge disappointment as the energy they brought was incredible and the crowd really got into it. I made it down for Mae, and they played a really good set- they don't have the same sort of stage presence as Anberlin or Motion City, but it was fun, and they played plenty of old stuff along with the new. Motion City played an amazing set as well, and I have to disagree with DCfreak on the point of Justin's talking. He interacted with the crowd really well, reading people's signs, picking up notes thrown to him, and even talking on a cell phone that somehow found its way onto the stage. It made it a complete show, not just music being played at the crowd. And the crowd was crazy for this set too- there was dancing and jumping around and some pushing and a lot of singing along. The best part was that it seemed that everyone was just there for a good time, and were reasonably considerate of each other (granted, this was a point Justin had mentioned several times between songs). There were a couple probably 13 year old girls in front of me that several of us had to keep from being pushed over, but for everybody over 100 pounds, it was completely fun.

like he was saying.. he was dropping words and not paying enough attention.. I dont think it really hurt their performance enough to really complain.. i would just really rather hear the musis than listen to him talk on a 13 year olds cell phone. =\ I guess you found it funny and entertaining but i was DYING in that pit haha.. i just wanted to hear my songs and get out.

i am kind of surprised that you didn't enjoy justin's talking, but i wasn't there so maybe it wasn't entertaining. usually people love to laugh at the random things justin says between songs. and hey, the band needs a break so 1 minute can help them regain their energy for the next song. i think one of the great things about mcs is they love to make the show great for the fans and if people brought signs, im glad he read them, it is kinda like them connecting with the crowd if you know what i mean, rather than just playing and ignoring them.

i agree. i love listening to what justin has to say. and i like the fact that he interacts with the crowd. when i saw them last month i made a poster for 'back to the beat' and justin talked to me about it and then came out by himself for the encore and sang it to me. i was happy that he took the time to do that

Yep, THROWDOWN. it was insane, but actually, ive seen them 6 times and theyve played it 3, so i wasnt too surprised, indoor living however caught me off guard. besides shiver that was the song i least expected to hear from I am the movie, nevertheless, amazing show.
I skipped this because I've seen Motion City more times than I have fingers, but I regret it.

Wow, Indoor Living?? How did it sound?
I've never seen them perform it live, but I'm guessing it sounded incredible like the rest of their stuff.

Yea, this tour was so good. I loved how Justin talked inbetween songs. At my show, he actually found a cell phone that someone threw on stage and started talking to the guy on the phone. The guy had no idea who he was talking to and started to get pissed. It was pretty funny.
But musically, the show was great. Anberlin rocked, I was happily suprised with how good they were and how much support they had from the crowd. Mae was a great experience, and Metro Station actually wasn't that bad. MCS was really energetic which was great.

I haven't seen this thread in awhile.
INDOOR LIVING. My favorite song from IATM. :( Lucky.
However, I was very content with the Jersey show I was at with that encore. :)
Throwdown makes me happy every time.
I only saw Indoor Living once, too. :(
