thought this was big enough for its own thread. this guy has been one of the staples of MLB for a long time now:

The Braves have called a Thursday press conference for 3:30 p.m. EST, with Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reporting that general manager John Schuerholz is expected to step down.

According to Rosenthal, long-time assistant Frank Wren is likely to replace him.

It's too bad that Cox couldn't have stepped down instead.

How old is he now? Isn't he in his mid-60's?

That's pretty weak after the Tex trade... hopefully Wren isn't too terrible.

If the Hall of Fame wasn't so stingy about including executives, he would be right on his way in. Not only did he pretty much make this Braves run, he was in charge of some really good Royals teams in the 80s.

what a absolute genius, i'm glad to see he's being promoted. you literally can't mention the term "pitching prospect" without schuerholtz, or the braves. well, from back in the 90's, that is.

Well if he becomes president then the Tex trade is still relevant to him.

yeah earlier espn reports made it sound like he was just resigning, they made no mention of him remaining as team president. i don't see this as too terrible, he will still be a major part of all the moves the braves make, he will just have even more power now.

yeah the title should be changed to "step up"
