you have to just start singing yourself. there are a lot of bad singers out there that just stood up and said "this band needs a singer and im gonna do it whether im good or not". thats what i did. and now we have a singer.

Echo the thoughts above. You don't have to be the best singer, you'll be able to make it work

Look where you'd least expect to find one, put up flyers at music stores. If you have a local music school, go there and post adds...get the word out. If you're super desperate, make a million and a half flyers and pass them out on the streets, at shows, at Wal-Mart. Something like that....but, promise me that you won't settle for a sucky vocalist...please? Cause I've heard too many local bands with amazing guitar solos, rocken drum beats, swingen bass lines...but, a tone def singer that has no idea how to work the crowd...sigh.

I am a singer, but there are no bands around where I live that are how I can sing.

If you've ever heard of, The Rocket Summer, Mayday Parade, All Time Low, any of them.
That's my type of singing.
On a good day, I can sing like, Cragiafer of Blessthefall.
Oh, and Ronnie of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.

I want to be in a band, sooooo badly.
But there are no bands here in, Ohio!

Ehhh trendy singing. You should probably get the ol' learner's permit before you consider a band.

i agree with the start singing yourself. even if it's not just you, if the rest of your dudes need to do two or three part harmonies to make shit work, or at least rotate voices so you're all comfortable, do that.

record some demos without finding a singer, then hang flyers, hand out cds, and just keep looking. dudes are more willing to try out for random bands if they have an idea what they're going to be asked to do. once the music's out there, either somebody will come across it that wants to sing for you, or somebody who knows somebody will.

just try at all costs not to put the whole thing on hold. you never know, you could end up liking the way you sound, or the colective group of voices in your band does.
