Hi everybody well i will be turning 21 this 28 of october and i finally decided its time to get my life streight and get back to school. Im worried that since im 21 im gonna be to old for the college scene? and totally undecided on what i want to major in, im looking towards getting a bachelor's degree in something lol hopefully i qualify for some financial aid. Am i considered independent now that i will be turning 21? I was also looking in to Devry but doing my first two years at my community college anybody hear any good news about Devry? any help and motivation is greatly appreciated since im loosing my mind thinking im just getting old for school. Thanks alot guys love this forum!

Nope, you're fine. Some of the coolest people I ever met in college were 21 and up when I was 18 or so. You are probably better off since most girls dig the older guys anyways.
I would recommend applying wherever you are interested, getting as much financial aid as possible, of course, and then just taking it easy for a year or two. Things tend to fall into place.

I started when I was 20, you'll be fine. I took two years off after high school and saved up tons of money, not to mention I didn't waste two years in school trying to figure out what I wanted to do.
You won't be too old for the "college scene" at all. I feel 18 is too young for the "college scene", most younger people I have met at school are annoying and as much as I hate saying it, really need to mature.
You'll be fine and you'll meet several others your age, or older that started later.

You can be considered independent I think at 21... I'm not sure. It definitely would help since you'd probably get a lot more financial aid.
As far as the specifics, visit a few in the area and see if you are comfortable. I don't know about anyone else, but you'll just sort of know what will be a good fit for you after visiting a few places. Good luck.

i'm 19 and i'm an independent.... i have my own place and my own steady income. i thought you automatically become independent at 19? that's when my coverage with my parent's health insurance ran up. but it's never too old to go back to school. my mom started back about 12 years ago. she's a year away from her PhD after a lot of work and a shit load of financial aid. go for it.

Man when I was at DePaul and 21 my senior year I was like one of the youngest of all the guys I hung out with.
Lots of people are going to college later nowadays, or taking 6 or 7 years to finish. 21 isn't old at all.
Heck, take night classes and half your class will be 40 year olds.

I'm pretty sure if you go to college your parents insurance will cover you another 4 years or so.

In most cases from what I've seen, yes it does.
