Just saw it. Fucking loved it, I really truly did. I don't know how to use spoiler tags but I'll use white font:
First off, I know this isn't even worth mentioning but I had no idea "Sam" was a girl until he called her Samantha. And question: Was it mentioned as to how Will Smith actually survived in the first place? I know he was yelling at Ana at the end saying "we are the only survivors", but how did he survive in the first place?
at some point in the movie, it said that he had a special immunity to both the airborne and contact strains of the virus

lol fucking retard.
Him saying "the code is in her blood", yeah that explains how she was cured from the illness, but how did it explain how he survived in the beginning, 3 years prior?

It was just ok. Awful CGI killed the movie's feeling and the predictable story and corny acting really didn’t help matters.
This could have been a great movie. Take the realistic atmosphere of depression in Child of Men, add the motion and filming style of 28 Days Later.....and then add in this storyline and this would have been a very cool movie. Why Hollywood is so dead locked on bad CGI, even when actors could do the part, is just mind boggling. It kills movies.

I really don't understand why you are saying all of this. I think some people have a tendency of regurgitating critics opinions. This is definitely one of those situations, because this reads very similarly to another review I read.
Except I have no idea what Child of Men is. It sounds interesting.
Children of Men is absolutely incredible though. One of my favorite movies ever.
This movie was great because of Will Smith and the amazing dog. If it had been any other actor it probably wouldn't have been nearly as good. People just love Will Smith, like me. The story was good too,
I loved the ENDING, because it was short and sweet.

I can't really recall any Will Smith movie that I didn't like, I for one think that he is a fantastic actor. Fresh Prince or not, who he is today makes him a really strong actor. I thought he was really good at talking to the manequins, especially the scene where he sees frank out in the middle of the road and keeps yelling at him, or when he talks to the mannequin girl in the movie store

See being cutie really only works when there‘s some basis for your argument. Ew, a few critics (remember most gave it 4 stars) happened to call this very average movie out on all its prevalent flaws, which just happened to be the same reasons for my dislike. And this somehow is a “regurgitation” of them? Truly pathetic. It couldn’t be that the movie was just extremely lacking in these areas, and that they were quite obvious to anyone with any sense of cinematic taste.
So let me see I can wrap my head around your stupidity. If you view a movie and find it to be lacking in many ways.......before you voice such opinions about the film, you have to first check what others have said, and then rewrite or in deed change your own opinions so that they don’t match what anyone else has already said. That is the basis for your post? Is that what I’m to gather? Seems pretty thick, and childish if you ask me.

Let me guess you’re also one of those lonely elitists who takes great pride in critique the spelling of others in threads too.....

Actually, I had just gotten back from the bar. Sorry about that, my asshole side comes out on forums after I'd been out and about around town drinking. My apologies. Not much of an excuse, but hey, at least it was written somewhat coherently right?
Also, not a lonely elitist, just a spelling nazi. I actually judged a Spelling Bee last week! It was quite fun. Once again, sorry about the asshole post. :-)

I deffinatly agree that Will Smith is one of the few that could actually pull this role off, him and Tom Hanks have proven that they are truely great actors, there are only a few handful that can make a movie great when its just one person.

it was so good! but I'm confused about why he had to kill himself @ the end. I don't understand how his blood was the "cure" either. My friends actually saw it with me, they tried to explain but I'm still confused lol

he killed himself off because if he followed the lady and kid, the dark seekers would just continue following 'em and then they'd all be dead

Movie of the year still goes to "Bourne Ultimatum".

I'm confused as to how a prequel works for this movie. Unless it's a romantic comedy about how Will Smith's character met his wife.

What possible story could there be left to tell? We know what the virus is, we know it's effect in NY, and we know it's effect on Robert Neville.
Not to mention there were all those little animated videos that came with the DVD.
Not to mention the movie was based on a book to which there was no other story.

That's why I'm confused by the attempt to make a prequel. A sequal, even though it would be bad, would be a better fit. I enjoyed the movie, but they've already butchered the story enough as it is.

What book did you read? The book was completly different, same basic story yeah, virus hit the world, guy has to survive. But apart from that. The books also had the whole reason why it was called I am legend the big twist which made the story not just another zombie virus movie but a dark, provking, deep story with questions of what it is to be human rised. This was all cut from the movie, so parts of the movie did not make sense and the title makes no sense without the twist that is in the book. Result is another crappy hollywood, mainstream, focus-group movie that has no relation to the book but has stolen its name so a decent interpretaion of the book cant be made for decades to come. Disapointing

What book did you read? There were no zombies in it. They were vampires.
And I'm not sure what you were trying to prove to me either.

The story in the book was NOT told in the movie...I don't wont to ruin the story by saying what happens in the book (because I'm a noob and don't know how to do that blacked out thing in the text) but very little of it is in the movie, hence the reason why the title makes no sense, where as in the book and the books story it does and is explained.
But I agree I don't see how a prequel would work, and a sequel would prob just be lamer, a remake with entire new cast etc... and sticking to the book would be good.
World War Z movie looks like it might be good, reading the book at the mo.

I've read the book, and the title makes perfect sense in the movie. Will Smith is legend because his blood was the cure and he died to get the cure out. Did you actually watch it?
And even after that, you're still not proving anything to me because it doesn't change the fact that there is no other story to I Am Legend other than I Am Legend.

I thought it was about the infected still having some human traits and start to rebuild society as they have adapted to the sunlight...Ruth is sent to Nevvile by the infected and she convinces him that she is uninfected. They fear Neville as he hunts them while they sleep thus he is the Legend of their nightmares and stories (I am Legend). Ruth is against killing the vampires (as she is one) Nevelle relises she is a vampire. She tells him about the new society of humans/vampire evolved hybrids, that hunt the true vampire the 'walking dead', The infected hunters of the new society come to kill him he is capture goes to their headquaters and is put in prison, he sees the new society being build where the virus is accepted and he is the old human race. At the end he sees that as Vampires where Legends in the 'old human' race he is now the legend of theirs.
That is NOTHING like the movie!!!!!!!!!!!
(lot of that was nicked from wikipedia, but I have read the book, but I don't think you have)

As in most cases Book > Movie. I enjoyed both, but I took them as different pieces of work. If the book was never written and I only had the movie to go with, I would still enjoy it. Will Smith is a great actor and did an amazing job with this.
