i dreamed that i shot up a school. now, ive never thought of doing this in my life, and i dont really have violent thoughts. i wasnt bullied in high school or anything and i never wished anyone harm whatsoever. in fact my high school life was pretty average. it was just a weird, isolated dream but i've heard numerous times that dreams always have some meaning, anyone want to take on the task of analyzing this messed up thought?
I think the whole idea of 'dreams having meaning' is over-rated. You've probably just been taking note of all of the violent stories on the news and your brain just mixed up some other stuff, resulting in this disturbing dream. I'm currently taking a psychology class where we investigate dreams and sleep, and it's basically just your brain trying to clear itself of jumbled up thoughts.

/agree with tam... dreams just take information of your life and jumble them to create random stories in your head.

i had a dream last night where a car drove into a lake on purpose and this 13 year old kid jumped in too a few seconds after them and he was trying to pull them out. and he kept screaming, "someone help me! theyre my parents in there!" and there was about 20 people standing around and no one did anything and his parents died. then i woke up and it was just freaky
I had a crazy one the other night, where I had raped one of my best friends (the actual rape wasn't dreamed about, but it was a given that that had happened) and was trying to talk to her. Ugh, I made an idiot of myself too, it was embarassing.

A few nights back I dreamt I was sitting infront of a water tank with my ex boyfriend and two of his best friends. I was holding a model my sister made in the 8th grade (about 6 years back) of a power plant. We were just sitting, looking blank.. and then a ladder appeared next to me and with the same spaced out look on our faces, my ex and I held hands and climed up the ladder which led onto a roof in the clouds.
Now what the hell does THAT mean?

You are right and wrong accoring to my Psych class. The mind does sort out thoughts during sleep which occur during your R.E.M. stages of the sleep cycle, however they most definitely do hold meaning. If you are pissed off about something there is a good chance that you will dream about it. Dreams hold relevance to our lives and things we experience. There is a difference between saying dreams hold meaning as in predictions of the future or telling you what to do with your life and dreams holding mean in trying to make sense of things we were too busy to figure out consciously.
There is a current theory that dreams are mainly blocked stimuli of the subconcious the mind absorbed which is being taken account for.
I agree with her theory that you probably were watching the news and eating cereal or some shit. Unless there is more to you than you let us see.

SubrosaSeductiv has the most realistic advice so far.
In my psych class, we just learned about dreams. There are two theories:
-I forget the name of the first theory, but it claimed that dreams are our repressed feelings of shame that we live through day by day. For example, if you are homosexual but ashamed of it, you may have dreams symbolizing your homosexuality.
-This next theory is sounds better to me: the biopsychological theory. This theory suggests that dreams are a random channeling of thoughts, and whatever thoughts cross your channel of focus are the ones you dream about. In other words, your dreams are totally random thoughts, but your perception tries to make sense of them.
There is no proof in the subject of dream interpretation. It is ALL theory. Therefore, I personally tend to ignore my fucked up dreams and continue on with life. It could mean anything and isn't worth worrying over.

Uh, there was no advice given in his post. He just said a bunch of things about psychological findings.

Most of the other people just posted some of their own dreams without actually giving advice, so I didn't think anybody would have a problem with my post.

There are theories about everything. I'd recommend moving past into to psych before introducing all of them.

last night i had a dream that my gas tank was a quarter lower than what it's really at. Anyone care to decipher that one?

Gas will go down a quarter in a quarter of the first quarter of next quarter.
The other night I had a dream that two of my very good friends got kidnapped and I watched it happen. It was actually the worst nightmare I've ever had. I woke up as I was telling the police what happened. But when I woke up, I thought it was real and started freaking out that I didn't finish telling the police what the van looked like.

I'm not in intro to Psych. I am in AP Psychology, which is taught exactly the way Cornell's Psych 1 class is.

Which I'm sure touches on the first two weeks of any material taught in a college psych class.

Incorrect we use the same book used in a semester of a college psych class (Cornell and Scranton). They only have one semester while we have a full year. However I am learning the same material. My teacher has his PhD in literature and psychology, he's a pretty serious dude.

Same way it was at my high school. From what I've heard from people who took it was that they were completely lost when taking a college psych class.

Hmm. Well I haven't taken a Psychology course in college yet so I can't be sure. I'll let you know how they compare or contrast when I do.
