Waves taste the steel below
The groaning metal as the pressure grows
Their calming rush is all I can hear
A wasteland of liquid surrounds the pier
The sun rises deep in the sky
A streak of orange catches my eye
This sole light is a disturbing hue
The dawn's watercolor shades of blue
I'm holding memories, a folder of fear
I release into the air the pages and tears
From in my hands the pages fly
Circling the water and blurring the dye
Into the water the ink drips like dew
The same darkness and watercolor blue
It's an aching beauty as the pages fell
I hope I feel beauty when I land there as well
The last page falls and catches the breeze
Circles back and falls upon my knees
A single page that has defied the wind
Falls upon my lap with the words "you win".
I've read these words, I've read them all
With the page in hand I begin to fall
The groaning metal as the pressure grows
Their calming rush is all I can hear
A wasteland of liquid surrounds the pier
The sun rises deep in the sky
A streak of orange catches my eye
This sole light is a disturbing hue
The dawn's watercolor shades of blue
I'm holding memories, a folder of fear
