Guitar Hero III just came out this past Sunday.

What are your thoughts? songs? gameplay? what do you wish would have been included (songs, etc.)

i personally think the tracks on this newest Guitar Hero aren't as much fun to play than the ones in guitar hero II. i'm excited about Matchbook Romance's "Monsters" being one of the tracks, but i haven't gotten a chance to play it yet because it's an encore track for the co-op career mode. =/

it's still pretty fun, but i feel like it's a bit easier than II. i like seeing more recent songs though.

i'm thinking for this one, there will be more downloadable content (for a fee) such as songs. or maybe they'll have another disc of songs, like they did for the PS2 version of GH II.

and i take back what i said about it being easier... i started out the game playing on hard, and the songs seemed fairly simple towards the beginning. then i got to one i couldn't beat, so just resorted to medium so i could beat the whole thing and get the songs. i feel that they made 'medium' more difficult on this game. and the dragonforce song at the very end may as well have been on expert. (well, i suppose i'm exaggerating, but parts of it were hard, even on the medium setting)... or maybe i also had "guitar hero fatigue" and was just tired out.... oh who am i kidding, i just suck. =)

I've played reign in blood about a million times now and I never get bored with it. However, even though they do have the greatest metal song of all time in the game, it's not as much fun as guitar hero II.

I have played since GH1, and the only thing that I find cool about this game is that now I can play online. It is similar to what happened to the Tony Hawk series. Pretty tired game for the price.

definitely much harder than previous guitar heros. i could get through most all the songs on the other ones on expert first time through.
this game, even some on the first couple of tiers made me fail the first couple of times.
this game is gonna be hard as hell to 5 star everything, let alone get 100%s

the battle idea is the worst addition to the game by far. horrible idea, and just frustrating and dumb.

im glad a lot of the songs are the originals. and has some songs that are fun to play, and classic songs that everyone knows the guitar riffs/solos, and wishes they could play (one, reign in blood)

I hate how, in Quick Play, it doesn't remember your name the next day. It was like that in GH, then they fixed it in GHII, and now it's back to the start.
And somehow the graphics look worse to me.
And most of the girl characters are now bigger whores than before.
And Lars dyed his hair, damnit.

On the other hand, it's an excellent setlist, and I do enjoy the battles a lot.
I just think they tried to make it better and ended up messing with things that shouldn't have been fucked with.

wow, i couldn't agree with you more about the graphics. i know on the 360 version the graphics look awesome.

i totally agree with you about the whores though. i mean, they even have random slutty dancers on stage at certain points in the game!!

my strategy for beating the bosses that i couldn't get past was to save up 3 power ups, then use them all at the end when he's trying to finish you off.... try that, it might work. =)

What makes me so mad is that you have to play like 1:30 of the song before he gets the first power up...

It would be better if it appeared around the 30sec mark.

Just beat it on hard. "Raining Blood" is such a bitch, and the final boss battle took me 5-6 tries. The trick is to use your power ups on his fast parts and when he is about to get his, so he doesn't get them.

At first I thought I was playing too many notes, but then I played it only pushing down, and I was missing notes. So idk whats going on.

Yeah, I beat Raining Blood the first time I passed that part, after failing at 36-38% probably 15 times.

As for Lou...it's kind of hit or miss; if he gives you an easy powerup to get rid of (whammy comes to mind, but difficulty up and even lefty flip aren't TOO bad on that part since you can just mash all the buttons except green), you get one soon after and it's not too bad from there. The hardest part is timing it so it's on both a part with a lot of notes for him and also at a point where he'll miss getting his powerup.

you need to get your up & down strokes on, son. If you play guitar, it's a lot easier to get into the rythm.

Yea I kept failing at 33%-36%.

I know what to do as far as beating him...but its the executing part of it...

I'll try 2 or 3 times in a row...but I just can't keep doing it because I get tired. It's a very complex song.

The only quarrel I have with this game is the songs. Most of the songs are good, but songs like, "Bulls On Parade," "Lay Down," "Kool Thing," "Before I Forget," and "One" aren't necessarily my favorite songs to play. I love the fact that they brought in some songs of the present era (The Killers, AFI, Tenacious D, etc.), that really brought the feeling that I wasn't just playing the "oldies". I'm hoping they put some more songs from now and maybe some actual GREAT rock songs that EVERYONE likes, like Led Zepp, AC/DC & Queen. Overall, I love the game and I've already beaten it on Easy and Medium and now I'm going back and making more bands to buy all the characters from the store. yea, almost all the songs are pretty good, but some just suck ass, i don't like to many of the bonus songs, such as the hispanic one and a german one, the main career is almost all classic rock, i don't see why they didn't do it for the bonus ones either

I tried Through Fire and Flames on Hard for the first time today...It wasn't too bad, I was in the green almost all the way through it.

And the star power I had saved up was accedintaly ignited because of how sensitive it is this time around, so I wasted it 2 times in a row...

So I didn't have any when the confusing solo came up, and failed at 82%.

So many games feel like they're just a job, or a mission that you're trying to reach the end.

GH keeps you coming back, and me personally, I don't mind re-doing songs (if I fail them).

that happens to me too, but most of the time, i can simply take the game out, then put it back in and everything will work fine.

this also happens when i pause the game for too long... the xbox freaks out and i have to restart. so lame.

SO yesterday I finally beat Before I Forget

Took me 20 tries over the course of 3 days...those stupid cords are confusing.

But the hardest problem was the bridge...which I finally realized screw the yellow/orange chord and focus solely on the green/yellow and red/blue chords...

Once I did that, I passed the song entirely without star power...up until that point I had tried using the star power in multiple different places.

While i'm happy I got past that and Cult of Personality I'm a little angry that it took so long...

i met some guys who had a whole disc of customized songs... i don't know how they did it. they were all recent songs... Bullet for my Valentine, etc. i didn't get to play it though.

there's tutorials for it online and on youtube, i've just never really tried to figure it all out. it seems out of my league. also, they're all for the ps2 and not the wii. once they do one for the wii, i may try to figure it out.

i have it for the wii. i had only played guitar hero twice before picking up it up at eb about two weeks ago. i've been playing off and on and i'm at a medium skill level. anyway the wireless guitar kicks ass.

I legally purchased it for the PS2 and have played it to it's death, I can play most songs like 95% on expert, except Through the Fire and Flames - I got like 64% as my best.

I plan on legally purchasing it for the Wii, and going out and actually buying the guitar.
I just think it'll be better on the Wii - Online. That and the Star Power sensor is the remote, so failed guitar whips wont break the sensor in the guitar. I auto-star power on the PS2, which sucks.

it was okay. the tracklisting is on wikipedia. the guitar controller that comes with the game is awful though. only use it for bass. get a GH controller for the guitar parts.

Dragonforce on expert in pro face-off is just hilarious... i usually can only hit about 50-60% of the notes. haha, it really hurts my strumming arm. i usually just button-mash for the colors.

I hate the look of the fretboard on the actual RB game.

The rectangular notes are stupid...they are harder to tell apart, they are too small sometimes, and the hammer ons / pull offs are a lot harder to tell.

For me on this kind of game: harder = funner

Set the whammy bar like horizontal with the guitar base. And movie it down towards the face of the guitar, then out.

Don't just spin the metal bar around or back and forth...some people do that thinking that's how it works.

If that's not the problem...then it's probably broken and you need to take it back.

Rock Band is awesome. one of my favorite parts of the game is customizing your own characters... it makes watching what's going on behind the notes more interesting. i also like putting tattoos on my characters.

i haven't beaten the game on hard yet, there's this one song that i failed to beat, but i only tried once. i'm not really in any rush to get it done, cause i've already unlocked all the songs anyway.

also, i just found out today that it's really really easy to send parts in for repairs. unlike with most times i've had problems, i didn't have to call anyone to explain what was wrong. i just went to a website (you can't take the peripherals back to the store) and filled something out, and they're sending me a box free of charge, no questions asked. they didn't even need a credit card number or anything. i was glad it was so easy, cause i was contemplating not even getting it fixed since i have 2 GH guitars that i can use anyway.
