It always makes me laugh that in any other normal western country Ann Coulter would be a fringe and marginal joke amongst all in politics, yet in America she is embraced and given a stand by the Republican party.

to be honest, she is smart and has good ideas occasionally, but she shoots her foot all the time because she tries to get attention by saying ridiculous things.

I never understood why liberals get so up in arms about her. She's not serious. I've heard on a few message boards that when she is confronted in public, she tells them she's just kidding around. Bottom line, political commentators are most successful when they are controversial. No one would care about her if she didn't say crazy shit. If Coulter started agreeing with Democrats or tried to sound moderate, she would lose support, and thus lose money. I don't think she's willing to do that.

The problem with her is that the people that listen to her and read her books take it at face value. No sane person would take her seriously but the people who read her books and don't bother to see that she takes most of her "facts" either out of context or just plain out of her ass think that liberals only exist on this planet to raise taxes and have gay sex while rooting for terrorists. The problem is Fox News makes her out to be a respectable politcial comentator instead of just someone who says outragous things for attention giving her clout instead of pushing her to the fringe.
