I had to vote for Mayday Parade. I probably listened to that album in its entirety more than any other this year as far as I can remember.

The Graduate wasn't on here, so I had to pick "other" as well.

Definitely not something everybody on here would like. Their new album is quite good. aoty good? I dont know... I still think Sounding A Mosaic was better. good call though, i like this band.

where is etid? where is iron and wine?

Yeah, those are both up there on my list. Lots of albums missing, but at least he put "other". I can see this thread being a lot of "where is so and so". I mean... where is Radiohead?!?!?!?! heh

Eh, I'm sad to see that The Junior Varsity is getting like no recognition after they made the best album of their career, as opposed to Say Anything who made a decent album at best.

Incorrect. And get better taste. kthx.

You realize that you just named The Devil Wears Prada on your AOTY list, and you are now chiding someone for his taste? Trust me, if either TDWP or The Junior Varsity will cause you to be utterly flamed, it's not the latter.

I was surprised not to see In Rainbows on there.

This year certainly spawned some incredible albums. However, I chose other other because the best album of the year was Four Year Strong's "Rise or Die Trying". Honorable mention to The Starting Line, Mayday Parade, Jimmy Eat World, All Time Low, Yellowcard, Relient K, The Used (I'm one of the few fans of this album),Cobra Starship, P'more, and FOB. All these bands put out very solid releases and I don't have many complaints. Suckiest Albums were definetely Cartel's and Good Charlotte's. Its such ashame because both bands were on my good side until recently. (Actually Good Charlotte's last 2 albums both blew dick). I'm not gonna comment on Say Anything cuz I haven't come to love it yet but I know I will eventually.

haha, rediculous definitely. I tried to avoid upsetting people who's favourite AOTY wasn't on the list by incorporating a very large amount (there's 60 or so up there). Still didn't stop 80% of the posts in this thread being something like "ZOMG HOW THE FUCK COULD U LEAVE RADIOHEAD, THE DEAR HUNTER, IRON AND WINE, ETC. OFF THE LIST?!?!?!!? SUCH A TRAGEDY!1"

I agree FYS was one of the better releases of the year. Its not like I purposely left some bands off to piss people off. I honestly forgot about some of the big releases (FYS, Radiohead) and I could've sworn Anberlin was released last year? Meh

I had to vote for Mayday Parade. I probably listened to that album in its entirety more than any other this year as far as I can remember.

The Graduate wasn't on here, so I had to pick "other" as well.

I agree on Mayday Parade, brilliant CD. "Jersey" is my anthem.

11/15/07, 02:58 AM
ooh, tough.

1. Yellowcard
2. JEW
3. Mayday Parade
4. The Graduate
5. Anberlin

that's strictly in terms of enjoyment, not necessarily "Oh my god, it's epic!". Cities was the grandest, Anhedonia was the best debut, A Lesson in Romantics was the catchiest, Chase This Light was the most fulfilling, but Paper Walls was musical, deep, catchy, ambitious, and fun to listen to.

My top 3:

Kings Of Leon - Becasue Of the Times
Jamie T - Panic Prevention
Bloc Party - A Weekend In The City

None were on your list.

EDIT: I didn't really expect Kings of Leons or Jamie T to be on a punk websites list. And I understand it would be easy to forget bands like Bloc Party or Radiohead if you don't listen to that music. So it's a pretty good you remembered that many albums.

Concerning the poll choices I wouldn't exactly call Taking Back Sunday's Notes from the past an album...it is more like victory's attempt at cashing in a few bucks seems pretty obvious to me. Thursday and even NFG are also border line but not as much. IMO it is still too early to pick an AOTY...

bayside's "the walking wounded" definitly.

I know no one's gonna agree with me, but I thought a day to remember's "for those who have heart" was awesome. Not from a technical aspect but it's catchy as hell and a great full length debut from start to finish. definitley is my album of the year. go ahead and slam me
