I buy depending on what comes out. Sometimes I buy 5-10 a month, sometimes 2, sometimes 1, sometimes none at all. It all depends if the music sucks or not.

you find some amazing bands for FREE and LEGALLY, and then you can purchase the rest of their cd because you care enough about music to actually support and pay for it.

that's what I do, listen to a couple songs, and get the cd if you're happy with what you hear

I have the most respect for musicians possible, but in all honesty, over 90% of my cd's are bought. (I have 287 total)

But c'mon, the lowest price you could find a cd for in canada is $15. And those are rare finds. It usually at least $20 or over, and I surely cannnot afford to buy all the cd's I have when they have prices like that. Therefore, I burn the large majority of my records.

My amount of CDs I buy a month vary on how much cash I have at that time. Sometimes I'll end up buying five to ten. But in the past two months I've only bought once CD because I'm poor and I don't have a job. Which is actually kind of reasonable since I'm only 15. Currently I have 3 dollars because I spent the rest of my money on North.

Fuck mp3s,fuck burning. I only have friends burn me stuff if im not going to be able to make it to a c.d store in awhile and/or im severely broke and need to save. And ill only download 3 mp3's from a band at the most...or if its something i hafta order online (i downloaded the whole over it c.d :( )....I dunno why any of you would care,but i thought i'd share haha.

I usually buy 4 or 5 a month. I have probably 160 or 170 total and maybe 3 are burnt. I feel that if you can find the cd in a store you should spend the money and support the musicians. The 3 or 4 burnt cds i have are all songs that are unreleased or early demos or B-sides and stuff that you'll never find in a store.

I don't downlaod whole cd's and burn them though....I can't stand not having the "real" cd

The price for CD's in Canada is outrageous, which is why I only buy one a month. Epitaph is horrid to buy at $26.99 or more a pop.

I also survive by burning mix cd's of a bunch of bands from mp3.com. 100% legal, 100% satisfying.

im proud to say that i dl most of my music. i may buy 1 a month or sumthing lik that or get them 4 my bday, but id rather rip off bands as all u say. wish me happy downloading.

I burn when I know the CD will cost be 15+ It is rediculous for any buisness to cell CD's for that much. They are making like a 80% profit. But I will always buy a band's CD if I love em, and it is worth the money I am spending.

when half of your income is based on cd sales i don't realy call that making it up.

bands make very little off of cd sales. but i still buy cds cause i like having the real ones better. but in some cases if the band is just ok i wont buy their cd. its gotta be worth my 15 bucks for me to buy it.

Picture this:

My band just finished a set and we are back at the merch table. A group of friends shows up:

"Hey, I'll buy your demo please!", one said.
And so, we give her her demo, for a meager $5.
Then, seconds later,
"Awsome Ash! I don't have money were, but you can just burn it for me!".

Gee, thanks for letting us know that.
This situation never occured to me personally, but to my cousin's band many times.
If a band is gonna pay to have a CD recorded, ESPECIALLY on an indie level, then I strongly believe you need to support them.

And...I'm not sure why I said any of that.
