first!
this is weird, because i was just wanting to talk on ap about alexisonfire last night when i was going to bed. you read my mind! :O
but i love their vocals all around. i would probably say i prefer the singing more when it comes down to it too.

I dont know about that. I like the balance that George's screaming creates with Dalla's singing.

it wouldn't really be alexisonfire without the screaming... at least in my opinion

This Could Be Anywhere In The World was the only song I really liked. The video is pretty bad ass, too.

I agree w/ threadstarter. Their first two CDs are great but generic. I think especially on Crisis it showed that the screaming is just too dated now and they need to do something much different.

i tend to listen around the screaming. it doesnt bother me per se but dallas is clearly the best part of this band and pretty much my favorite singer.
AOF is the only popcore band that doesnt suck, for real. i agree that watch out! is better than crisis but i wouldnt bash crisis the way you guys are i mean its not any more generic than their other two albums are, it has some pretty sweet songs, i especially love tracks 1, 2, 7, and 10 (too lazy to type their names out haha.)
however,
city & colour >> alexisonfire.

agreed. seeing as i was only about 12 when this band first came around they were the first screaming band i'd heard and given that their music was good it's what drew me to them in the first place. but then my tastes matured, loads of popcore bands came onto the mainstream (like fucking hawthorne heights & atreyu & silverstein etc. all of which i fucking hate), and thenwatch out! showed me more of dallas, and i started to look at their music differently.
thrice's screaming, however, is different. dustin's scream is nothing like the generic popcore scream, and he does it in a way that really adds power to the music when appropriate. it's a great effect in that band's case.

you know honestly, i would love to hear them without george. if dallas completely took on the lead role in alexisonfire i actually think i might like them more.

yeah side walk when she walks is their best song, no doubt.

so very wrong.
they need more George much less Dallas.

the only way this wouldn't bother me is if dallas made another city & colour album while alexisonfire increased george.
then i would still be getting enough of my favorite singer and one of my favorite songwriters.
but dallas is clearly the most important part of AOF.
not saying george is completely unwanted i mean he is part of what makes alexisonfire who they are and hes a pretty swt screamer.

i don't think he is a very good screamer at all.

Actually, some of my favorite parts of songs are when Wade sings
(I.E. "We'll cut this row of Goodyear like a knife" in "Hey, It's Your Funeral Mama" ..at least I think that that is Wade singing in that part, I could be completely wrong, I'm not too up to date on AOF knowledge)

no that's defintiely wade haha. wade would be a good lead singer if alexisonfire weren't such a polished band but most singers can't touch dallas let alone wade.

I think George is very much the lead in AOF, wouldn't be the same without him, although Steele has been pretty intense the last few shows I've seen, I like that Wade is more predominent in Crisis but Dallas I must say can steal the show sometimes. Anyway, i've been a fan of these guys for a while now and they're live show is incredible, a must must must.
So how popular are they in the US exactly?

like most bands that receive a lot of discussion on this site, they're not up there with like major pop or rap artists, but anyone who's even somewhat music savvy will know who they are. for example they're not consistently on MTV but theyve made appearances.
