20. Tegan & Sara - The Con
21. Jesse Malin - Glitter in the Gutter
22. A Wilhelm Scream - Career Suicide
23. MxPx - Secret Weapon
24. Travis - The Boy with No Name
25. New Atlantic - The Streets, The Sounds, and The Love
26. Yellowcard - Paper Walls
27. Relient K - Five Score and Seven Years Ago (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=217150)
28. Paulson - All At Once
29. Chromeo - Fancy Footwork
30. Lupe Fiasco - The CoolWhile 2007 seemed to be the year of the pop album (see: Fountains of Wayne, Maroon 5, Rilo Kiley, Melee, Paulson, et al), my top 30 has been shuffled and reshuffled about a hundred times, it seems. I found it very hard for any albums later in the year to unseat my Top 10, but after that, nearly any of these albums could be #11. Spoon came on strong toward the end of the year for me, while Tegan & Sara dropped a few spots after spending most of its time in the Top 10. Josh Ritter never faltered as my top choice of the year, and it comes very highly recommended to any and all music fans.
Top Albums (Honorable Mention)
Against Me - New Wave
Lifetime - Lifetime
Maximo Park - Our Earthly Pleasures
Mustard Plug - In Black and White (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=272702)
Radiohead - In RainbowsAll five of these albums just missed the cut. Against Me and Lifetime returned with solid releases, and Maximo Park hung around pretty much all year. Mustard Plug is one of the most energetic ska releases of 2007, and Radiohead released an entertaining album, even though I felt it lacked the staying power that I had hoped.
Worst Albums of 2007
Angels & Airwaves - I-Empire (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=281012)
Cartel - Cartel
Cassino - Sounds of Salvation
The Dear Hunter- Act II: The Meaning Of, And All Things Concerning Ms. Leading
Waking Ashland - The WellFive albums that thoroughly disappointed for a variety of reasons. I'll take the high road and hope that they can all release a much better album next time around. You can do far better than any of these CDs if you're looking for something new to spin.
Best "New" Band:
Red PandaRed Panda may fly under the radar, but the new band from Home Grown's J-Tran released a catchy pop album without depending on his last band's name to sell. In fact, most of you likely haven't given them a shot. On one of those chilly winter nights, give Life In Fuzzy a spin to keep you warm and entertained this holiday season.
